Dre of Cool & Dre Sheds Light on New Lil Wayne Track ‘On Fire’
Miami, FL – It has been sometime since we’ve from the Miami super producers that have been known for many smash hits throughout the years. And for the past several years that they’ve been absent, they continue to produce hits, interestingly enough, as of late, the infamous duo have been working with Lil Wayne on his upcoming ‘Rebirth.’
Dre recently spoke with MTV News about one certain track that sits right at home in Dre’s Miami with the track entitled ‘On Fire.’ He explains the concept into record that is apparently the first single off of the album. These were his comments:
“He’s talking about a chick that’s on fire. He’s on his knees praying to the Lord to keep him clear because she’s on fire. He’s got a bad one! She’s that bad that’s she might have came straight outta hell. I think he’s shooting a video for it. I think the video would be outrageous.”
And with the beat, Cool & Dre decided to sample Amy Holland’s ‘She’s on Fire’ off of the soundtrack to the cult classic:
“If you speak to Wayne, Wayne will tell you the reason why he loves the record is he gets to do everything on the record, he gets to spit on the record, he gets to sing on the record, he gets to play the guitar on the record. One night I was watching ‘Scarface,’ and I woke up in the morning, had the damn ‘She’s on Fire’ in my head. I called up Cool, like, ‘Yo, we gotta flip this.’ The way the sample was, you couldn’t flip it. It’s like a disco song, but you hear the guitars. I was like, ‘We should put this shit on steroids and turn it all the way up. Throw some 808s on it and really crank this shit up.’ We redid the whole beat and kept the ‘she’s on fire’ [vocal sample]. We gave it to Wayne. Wayne is the Fireman, so it’s perfect. But we heard it after he did it — we didn’t know he was gonna kill the guitar like he did.
That’s him laying the guitar; it’s never us producing a beat for Wayne. It’s collaboration. It’s always a collaboration. It’s not like, ‘OK, make a beat.’ We’re making the music with him in mind and the shit he does, [thinking,] ‘He’ll probably rap; make the music change here.’ When we gave him the Pro Tools, he goes in and he amplifies the beat. That song has drops all over it where hits the guitar. Music is so fucking boring right now. It’s good to wake muthaf—as up. Wayne sings on it, he spits on it, and he plays the guitar on it. He gives you everything on one record where his mind is at right now.”
As far as the rest of the album, both Cool & Dre are proud to say that they provided the production to certain tracks will grace the album cut. At press time, they are also working on joints with brethren Rick Ross, Yo Gotti, and The Game.
On the real, it’s good to know that Cool & Dre are back in the lab, it’s been a minute since we’ve heard some them. I actually want to hear what Wayne has in store for us this time around. Between Rap material, Rock material, and a Young Money compilation, I bet we won’t be worried about Tha Carter IV until 2012, cause that’s probably when they’ll decide to release it anyway.
Rihanna Gives Props to Lady Gaga’s Style in New ‘Hard’ Video
New York, NY – Throughout history, artists have always complimented each other whenever it came to fashion, style, and boldness. In this case, Rihanna has given major props and admiration to that of Lady Gaga’s unique style that we all can agree is eccentric, but original. It is evident that in Rihanna’s latest video to her single with Young Jeezy entitled ‘Hard,’ she switches her style and is comparison to that of Lady Gaga.
Rihanna recently spoke to MTV News while on the set of the ‘Hard’ video and inquired about the choice of style. According to her, boldness was the main focus.
These were her comments:
“She has a very bold, fearless image. I have to say, I have so much respect for original artists and artists who aren’t afraid to do what they want to do. That’s what I respect most, so she’s awesome.”
Everyone in the game has complimented Lady Gaga on her style and her music as of late, MTV News even collected a quote from the legendary Smokey Robinson:
“I think that Lady Gaga is so different and she has taken the world by storm. I enjoy her music. So I think that she’s unique. Unique always has a chance.”
At press time, Rihanna nor Lady Gaga has stated whether or not they would consider doing a song together, but we wouldn’t be surprised if that ever occurred.
Keep posted to 24hourhiphop.com for updated news into Rihanna and Lady Gaga.
On the real, that would actually be quite interesting. Both Rihanna and Lady Gaga individually have different styles hat putting the two together would collect a good amount of fans. Either way, both artists are very talented and energetic in their own ways.
