Eminem Inducts Run DMC into Rock N Roll Hall of Fame

Cleveland, OH – The long awaited celebrated event has occurred and it has been a long time coming for the Hip-Hip group who literally paved way for the music that became the culture that we indulge in today. Run DMC has finally been inducted into the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame by none other than the MC that built his career around them and many others, Eminem. They are the second Hip-Hop act to ever be inducted into the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame.

On the night of the induction, Eminem came prepared as he wrote a poetic tribute to the pioneers while wearing a black leather jacket with matching shirt and pants, and a tilted fedora hat to respectively pay homage to the group’s signature style. With Reverend Run in attendance alongside DMC, the only member of the group that has been missed for some time now, the great Jam Master Jay was in their hearts.

This is how Eminem’s poetic tribute entitled ‘Two turntables and a Microphone’ began as he paid respects and homage to their history and their music:

“Two turntables and a microphone, that’s all it took to change the world. Three kings from Queens made rap music in the b-boy stance a global phenomenon. Hard beats and bold rhymes, something about the big drums and the strong raps that grabbed hold of my ears and changed my life. Something fresh, something tough, something dangerous, something beautiful, and something unique. Two turntables and a microphone.

He continued reminiscing back to 1985 when Run DMC released the video to ‘King of Rock, the first of its kind, on MTV:

“And 25 years later, man, here we are. They didn’t take no for an answer, much the same way as they didn’t give up when much of the world refused to recognize rap as real music. They were the first rock stars of rap. They were the first movie stars of rap. They were the first rap group played on MTV. They were the baddest of the bad, the coolest of the cool. Two turntables and a microphone.”

Before he concluded his speech, he took the audience down his own personal memory lane where he related to many people going back through the years:

“I remember being in ninth grade when Raising Hell came out, two years later, I still remember being in ninth grade when Tougher Than Leather came out. I had skipped school, if you can believe that, to go buy Tougher Than Leather on cassette the day it came out. As soon as I heard ‘Run’s House,’ man, it was pretty much a rap for me. Marshall Mathers became Eminem. It was the first time Run-DMC had changed my life, but it wouldn’t be the last. Two turntables and a microphone.”

At press time, Run DMC did not perform at the induction because of a promise that they haven’t performed live after the death of Jam Master Jay.

Congratulations to Run DMC for this outstanding honor. It has been way too long, but they finally made it. It is just sad that Jam Master Jay couldn’t live to see this go through. The pioneers have officially become the second Hip-Hop act to be inducted into the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame.

Rick Ross Recruits Nas for ‘Usual Suspects’

Just when you thought that The Boss had nothing else up his sleeves, he hits with yet a third single from the anticipated ‘Deeper than Rap.’ As the 50 Cent and Rick Ross controversy that once made top headlines has now somewhat subsided for the time being, giving Ross a chance to get back to his music. Regardless of everything that has occurred so far in the midst of this out of control feud, you must admit that Ross’ lyricism has continued its course and there seems to be some improvement there as well.

Ross recently spoke with MTV News concerning his latest single. This time around he recruits the iconic legend Nas to grace alongside the track that has been amusingly entitled ‘Usual Suspects.’ These were his comments to MTV:

“That’s when everyone can judge [for] greatness. That song is, like, really me being a fan of Nas, for so long me just respecting the way he moves. Nas is such a veteran but, at the same time, he’s more relevant now than he was before, especially in the South, so there’s a lot to learn there. So when the concept came about with the ‘Usual Suspects,’ the record was not a boastful record. It was a record that I felt needed somebody to really be sincere, to take time to think about what they were gonna say. ‘Cause I most definitely did. And Nas came to light. It was my first time having the opportunity to work with him, and I take my hat off to him just for taking that time out and doing it in such a timely fashion and giving me an incredible 16-bar verse.”

During the recording process, Ross admitted that he had to be more creative with the lyrics than usual because he was aware of the caliber of Nas was known for. Quite interestingly, he also added that after Nas sent back his verse, Ross had to work extra hard on the third verse just to keep up with the veteran:

“I poured ‘hit’ all into my first verse ’cause I knew I was gonna give him the record. Then when he send the joint back to me and I heard his verse, I was like, ‘Wow, I might have smoked three weeks in a row before I wrote the third verse.’ But that’s the momentum and energy you need if you wanna make a classic record. You have to be able to rise to the occasion. I felt like it was gonna be a special record to me, and he gave me that heartfelt music I needed to hear.”

At press time Rick Ross’ third studio LP ‘Deeper than Rap’ has been set for an April 21 release. As of now, both his first singles have debuted on the top charts doing very well.

If you heard the track, the song is actually quite lyrical. The beat is real catchy and both Nas and Ross go back and forth trying to outshine each other. This is the first time that Nas has graced an official Ross track and in light of the recent feud between Ross and 50, it is actually a good turn of events.

Rihanna Returning Back to Normal

In light of another highly reported controversy between two of R&B’s most successful artists, Rihanna and Chris Brown, that incident, in essence, is also slowly beginning to whether away. With Chris Brown’s arraignment scheduled to be held today, many things could occur as the court will determine whether or not Rihanna will testify on Brown.

Interestingly enough though following Brown’s arraignment, over the course of the weekend she has been traveling from city to city which eventually led her back to her home island Barbados. Her father, Ronald Fenty, recently spoke to People.com and gave some insight on Rihanna’s condition almost two months after the alleged altercation that took place in Los Angeles on the night of the eve of the Grammy’s.

These were his comments to the celebrated magazine:

“She’s home, She is in good spirits. And she sounds great. “

According to UsMagazine.com, she was there to celebrate her grandparents’ 50th anniversary. These were her father’s comments to Us:

“Yeah [she’s back], She just got in a couple hours ago. I will see her tomorrow. Of course, I’m happy to have her home. Things are good with her. She is doing really, really well. She’s back to herself again.”

At press time, Chris Brown has been to enter his plea on two felony counts. Keep posted to 24hourhiphop.com following the events that occur later on today.

Today is the day of reckoning for Chris Brown, as his delay of arraignment has finally arrived. The question now is: Will Rihanna testify against Brown? We will just have to see. If he is convicted, he will spend a maximum of 5 years in prison.
