Eminem Returns to the 2009 MTV Movie Awards

Universal City, CA – Every single year MTV always does it big with their movie award shows. Putting together an ensemble of guest performers and presenters to grace the show has always provided a great lineup. This year alone the lineup was amazing, next to the celebrities and Hollywood stars in attendance for this annual prestigious event. The 2009 MTV Movie Awards was hosted by comedian Andy Samberg at the Gibson Theatre in Universal City. ‘Twilight’ went in with 7 nominations, while ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ was hunting behind ‘Twilight’ with 6.

Eminem graced the awards this year performing his hits ‘We Made You’ and ‘Crack a Bottle.’ This show marked his return as his album was released last week and recently went number 1 on the charts. And just like MTV does every time with Eminem, they did the same thing this year. MTV always seems to involve Eminem in some type of comedic sketch without his knowing or approval. In 2002, Triumph the insult comedic dog stole show, this year; Sacha Baron Cohen made his appearance felt, especially in Em’s face. Cohen flew above the crowd in one of his character personas named Bruno, dressed in an angel outfit, fell on him from above having Em practically kissing his ass, it was hilarious. A not so happy Eminem, embarrassed and disgusted, jumped up out of his seat and quickly walked out of the auditorium. MTV does it again!

Another hilarious scene was seeing Lil Wayne hand the award for ‘Best Song from a Movie’ to, a total opposite between his music and hers, Miley Cyrus for Hannah Montana. Even Miley mentions it as a joke.

All in all, this year’s MTV movie awards was a lot better than last year’s award show and was more filled in. Their huge guest presenter line up was put together quite well; they even provided sneak peeks of sequels for different movies to be released within the next upcoming months. I’m just not quite sure it was a good idea to cast Andy Samberg as the host, he was horrible. ‘Twilight’ received honors this year as they picked up 5 awards throughout the whole night with Denzel Washington presenting them with the Best Movie award to end the night with a bang.

New Dr. Dre Music Appears on Dr. Pepper Commercial

Aftermath has been on a warpath as of late when it came down to new music from Eminem and 50 Cent. ‘Relapse’ hit number 1 on the U.S. and UK charts sometime last week, while attention continues to rise for the release of 50’s new album. Apparently, it seems as if the mastermind behind the boards is still holding back his new material for quite some time now. It has been a long minute since we heard any new material from the D.R.E. himself and almost 9 years since the release of ‘Chronic 2001.’ When news hit the media outlets sometime in 2004 of the mythical ‘Detox,’ fans were excited and enthused with the news of a new album. ‘Detox’ has now been in the works for the past 5 years and out of the hundreds of tracks that he has made; only one track has surfaced onto the net.

That track leaked sometime in February and featured the talents of T.I. to a record at that time was entitled ‘Topless.’ Apparently, that same track that was leaked recently appeared on a Dr. Pepper commercial featuring Dre as the main focal point of the soft drink advertisement. The commercial provided the Doc with dialogue that he carried quite convincingly.

These were lines over a voiceover:

“Scientific tests prove when you drink Dr Pepper slow; the 23 flavors taste even better. For me, slow always produces a hit. Slower is better — trust me, I’m a doctor.”

Dre then provides some DJ skills as he asks the first DJ to step aside after hearing a techno track he wasn’t quite fond of. He then quickly plays of the beats confirmed to be on the Detox album. The track was done in collaboration with co-producers the Buchanans. That track was the same track that was leaked to the net sometime in February. According to a source close to Dre, the track is officially entitled ‘Shit Popped Off.’ This was T.I.’s verse from the track:

“It’s the D.R. / Made the West side worldwide, no PR/ Gangsta-rap God, I’m the end-all, be-all/ California love from the Bloods to the C-Dogs.”

Sometime in March, T.I. spoke with MTV News and denied that he worked with Dre on a track in reference to ‘Detox:’

“I heard about that, did I really reference vocals for Dr. Dre? Did Dr. Dre confirm I referenced vocals for Dr. Dre? I cannot confirm or deny my involvement with the Detox project, but if I had the chance to work with the great Dr. Dre, it would be an honor and a privilege, and definitely be a pivotal moment and highlight of my career.”

As of now, we await the release of Dre’s third long-awaited album. It is already quite obvious that when or if he releases Detox, the album will go platinum in just a matter of time. According to Em and 50, they can already confirm 10 tracks to be inclusive on the legendary album.

Forget all that, he adds to hurry up and release the damn album and go platinum as that is his infinite goal. If Fif and Em confirm 10 tracks then 5 of those need to leak sometime within the upcoming months. Either way, this album has been in the works for at least 5 years, he needs to release the album before we don’t even think it’s coming anymore.

Kanye West New Video Leaks Online

Lately, there has been a barrage of leaks to the net ranging from pictures to tracks. Many artists have been victims of these premature leaks that cause much of their work and privacy to surface and be viewed online via different websites. The Chi-Town native, Kanye West, has been one of the recent victims that has had his work leak online. Apparently, a rough clip of his new video guest starring Rihanna has surfaced on the net.

The video is entitled ‘Paranoid’ and was directed by Nabil Elderkin. The final cut of the video didn’t even have a confirmed release date, but nonetheless the rough cut has now become available all over the net. A sleep-deprived Elderkin recently spoke to MTV News concerning the premature leak, these were his comments:

“That wasn’t even an old version, that wasn’t even the video. It was just a bunch of footage, like a timeline type of thing to show the idea. That was pre-rough cut.”

He explained the outline of the film and how it was put together. Usual when West asks for a certain criteria, it is followed and created by Elderkin. Ye is very particular about the structure of his videos. This was the premise:

“Its fantasy meets paranoid, when you get into that frame of mind and get trapped into your thoughts. It starts out subtle, but then it just builds. So I wanted to get that into the video, to build that into her dream sequence and get her into that paranoid state of mind.”

Rihanna was chosen personally by Ye to play the lead role in the video. According to Elderkin, it was a win-win situation that played for them very well.

“That wasn’t too much of a decision,” he said of West’s recommendation. “That was somewhere between ‘hell yeah’ and ‘yeah.’ Who wouldn’t want to look at Rihanna?”

And of course, Kanye West has something to say about the leak. He quickly went to his blog and posted these comments. To express his anger, he wrote the blog in all caps:

“It hurts me to see the old and very wrong version of the ‘Paranoid’ video got leaked over the Net while I was on an 11-hour flight and couldn’t do anything about it.”

At press time, the video does not have a confirmed release date.

West is up to his diva mode again, complaining about everything. We all know what West of thinking about when he chose Rihanna to grace his centerpiece and it’s not a big surprise, he speaks every highly of her anyway.
