Jamie Foxx Co-Signs Drake
New York, NY – The quickly rising Canadian Hip-Hop artist is beginning to receive recognition for his work from many different heavyweights in the game. It seems as though Drake has come a long way when it comes to his writing and lyrical talent skill. Everyone is now picking up on him after his recent collaboration with Wayne and Young Money. One of his most recent guest collaboration is the well-rounded Jamie Foxx who requested Drake to be a part of his ‘Digital Girl (Remix)’
Foxx recently spoke to MTV News about his recent decision to add Drake to the song that will eventually become a hit in due time. He actually goes in and co-signs Drake’s talent. These were his comments:
“Drake is the new movement, man. You gotta think about what this kid has done, man. To have records on a mixtape, and then the next thing you know he’s on top of the charts. And every time you mention him, people go crazy. I’ve had the chance to meet Drake and listen to his music. The volumes of music he’s producing makes him a strong force that’ll be around for a very long time. Because usually, when you see an artist of today, they do one thing — maybe they perform a song or do a great hook — but you seldom see a guy who can walk a song, all from the R&B end, and then to be on a track with Bun B … and Bun B, he doesn’t get on tracks with people unless it’s really legit … so I’m actually honored to have him on a track called ‘Digital Girl,’ and we will be working with each other in the future.”
Foxx failed to mention when the recording of the song would take place, but he did continue to praise Drake and his talents comparing his caliber to that of LL Cool J, that includes his skill and his swag:
“It’s always great to see somebody … those young bucks, coming up, and he’s making noise, so he’s either gonna make people paranoid and hate him, or you gonna have to get on that boat and ride.
[Drake] has a way with women, in how he portrays himself. His music is … he can go as gangster as he wants, but when he sings, that is the X-factor. A lot of us use the Auto-Tune, but this guy’s actually melodically soothing when he’s singing to females, and I think that gives him a little bit of what my man LL Cool J had. The reason LL Cool J lasted for so long was because he was an absolute monster when it came to battle rap, but he was, when it came to females … there’s not a lady in the world don’t want to be at an LL Cool J show. So, if this guy can capture what I think he can capture, he’ll really have that.
Besides, I’ve heard some of the stuff that he’s giving to me, which is on the R&B side — I said, ‘What you doing with that?’ he said, ‘You can have it,’ but when you hear what all he can do, look out, I mean, this guy’s gonna come out with a hip-hop album, then he’s gonna come out with an R&B album, then he might come out with a pop mainstream album — he’s that dope.”
For Jamie Foxx to co-sign you, that is quite a big deal. The man is an accomplished artist and actor that has won numerous amounts of award that includes Grammy’s and Oscars. Drake himself is on a collision course with instant fame, it will just be a matter of time before Drake becomes another Jamie Foxx.
Drake Confirms Jay-Z & Mary J. Blige Features
New York, NY – As Drake continues his rapid rise to fame, many heavyweight artists are beginning to notice the flare and talent that this young Canadian artist possesses. Not so long ago he was one of the co-stars of Degrassi High as Jimmy Brooks and later becoming one of Wayne’s top choice to co-sign with the many recorded tracks to the concerts they’ve both appeared on together. Now it seems as though Drake is officially in a league of his own continuing his elevation towards international stardom.
First it was confirmed that he would be working side by side with Rihanna on her new album in London, now he is proud to state that he will be onboard with Mary J. and Hov, adding major names to his growing credibility. While speaking with MTV News during the taping of the video to his recent single ‘Best I Ever Had’ he discussed his recent features, he confirmed his proud and enthused collaboration with Jay-Z on the icon’s upcoming ‘Blueprint 3’ album and added that he is also doing a song with the Queen of Hip-Hop Soul, Mary J. Blige. Throughout all the major co-signs and requests, the Canadian MC still remains humble and thankful about his new situation.
These were his comments to MTV:
“The Mary thing was set up as a single. The Jay thing, I don’t now how official that is. I just read that on the Internet. But it’s cool. I’m glad the work I’m doing is something that people are even considering putting out as a single. ‘Cause singles, you have to be confident in those songs when you’re talking about singles. It’s great. I’m glad that I’m delivering for people.”
Drake already has four mixtapes under his belt with two hit singles spanning from the most recent one, ‘So Far Gone.’ He is the hottest unsigned artist in the industry to date and still has movie roles being offered to him. It is official; this talented, well-rounded artist has a lot up his sleeve as he still continues to prepare for the release of his own debut entitled ‘Thank Me Later.’ He is looking for a late 2009 release depending on the direction his soon to be label puts in him.

On the real, it took me a minute to realize this artist’s talents. I’ve heard his prior mixtapes, but for some reason his recent one sounds better. Either way, he is undoubtedly on the path to stardom and nobody is going to stop him. He is already doing songs with real major heavyweights in the game, yet he is still being quite humble about it. Let’s see where he goes from here.
