Jay-Z and Drake Track ‘Off That’ Leaks to the Net
The world could not wait as the anticipation into Hov’s new album ‘The Blueprint 3’ is at a pivotal point where the release is just weeks away. One of the most talked about tracks on the album was leaked to the internet over the weekend to excited and impatient fans. The download count for that one particular song has already surpassed the tens of thousands and continuing to rise as this is written. That track is entitled ‘Off That’ featuring the Toronto MC Drake with production from the icon Timbaland.
The track within itself is amazing. Jay and Drake blend perfectly well with the pivotal beat that Timbo provides to the duo at their first try at collaboration. Drake keeps up interestingly well with the iconic Jay-Z, something I thought he couldn’t do.
Drake steady rips the chorus line like so:
Whatever you about to discover, we off that, you about to tell her you love her, we off that/ Always wanna fight in the club, we off that/ But you can’t bring the future back/ Y’all steady chasing the fame, we off that/ Oversized clothes and chains, we off that/ Niggas still making it rain, we off that/ ‘Cause you can’t bring the future back.
All the while, Jay kills the second verse going in:
Please tell Bill O’Reilly to fall back/Tell Rush Limbaugh to get off my balls, it’s 2010, not 1864/ We come so far … How’s that for a mix?/ Got a black president, got green presidents/ Blueprint‘s in my white iPod, black diamonds in my Jesus piece, my God.
At press time, ‘The Blueprint 3’ has been set to be released officially on September 11, 2009 under Live Nation with distribution from Atlantic. News has also surfaced that upon the same day of the album release, Jay has already planned to do a show at Madison Square Garden to celebrate the release. Hov will also be performing at the MTV VMAs on September 13.
That’s what I’m talking about, Hip-Hop is back. If you haven’t heard the track yet, it is a phenomenal record. Now I really can’t wait to hear the rest of the upcoming album that is set to be a masterpiece. Hopefully Kanye gave Jay everything he had in his arsenal. And this concert to celebrate the release at the MSG, I definitely got to be there.
Tony Yayo Weighs In on Young Buck
New York, NY – As a full G-Unit reunion seems unlikely; the idea can still be explored. At one point in time, the biggest crew in Hip-Hop was G-Unit as they reign supreme across the world. G-Unit was a business conglomerate until everything became somewhat personal between 50, Buck, and especially The Game. After their immediate oust from the group and the label, both artists eventually became estranged from the remaining original members: 50, Yayo, and Banks.
Tony Yayo, who has been quite vocal lately for G-Unit towards the media, recently spoke with MTV News about concerns towards Buck and his thoughts on The Game.
These were his comments:
“Shout to Young Buck, I wish you was with us, getting some money, living the life. ThisIs50.com is the biggest hip-hop network out there — as well as the Web sites that come after it. He could be taking advantage of it, but you don’t hear his mixtapes; you don’t see nothing from nowhere. I just wish that the guy thought better or was a better businessman, instead of just being a good rapper. You being disgruntled towards 50, now what do you have? You could have been with us in Peru. We went to Switzerland, Istanbul, we went everywhere, man. I’m too real for the industry. Even if I was disgruntled about anything, I wouldn’t care, because I’m still getting money. Still got houses, still got cars, sprinklers still come out the ground. I think people get jealous of 50, of how big he is. You wake up, Mayor Bloomberg is talking about 50. Then in the New York Post, he had two pages. Then he was on Fox 5 [New York] news because we’re doing an event for the kids and grown-ups — August 30, come nice, in good behavior.
But the thing is, a lot of artists don’t hit that plateau where they’re on CNN, on Fox 5,” Yayo said. “But what happens, when we’re around 50 and dudes is in the circles, dudes start to get mad jealous. They want 50’s money. That’s what happened with Game and Buck, there was no way they were supposed to mess up the money. That’s what they did, they started messing up the money.”
Yayo even had some last words to say about Buck’s financial situation:
“Buck, I think he’s at a point where financially, I don’t think he got it, homie,” Tony explained. “What are you doing? I don’t see him anywhere. Even when you don’t see me, Yayo’s in Peru getting a nice check with 50. You can call it whatever you wanna call it; I’m still buying cars, Louis glasses, Porches. If Buck was around, he would still have these outlets available to him. Why apologize now?”
At press time, there doesn’t seem to be any reunion set to happen, but 24hourhiphop.com will keep you posted as new developments continue to stir within the G-Unit camp.
When exactly did Yayo become the Speaker of the G-Unit House? Either way, it is interesting to see him speak about Buck on a positive note, while still having animosity towards Game. On the real though, 50 should really consider a reunion, maybe that reign will return and they’ll be right back on top, of course with the help of Em and Dre. Somebody talk to 50.
Omarion Releases Statement after Young Money Departure
After reports surfaced of Omarion’s oust from Young Money, many of his fans have been questioning what label will house the once mega star and continue his music career. Speculation circulated sometime last week that he was dropped. According to different tweeter posts by Mack Maine and Lil Wayne, it was official that the former B2K member was no longer a Young Money signee.
Last Wednesday night, Mack Maine posted this announcement on his twitter regarding Omarion, causing immediate inquiries:
“ATTN: Omarion is no longer Young Money … the song they leaked featuring Wayne is not official … Good luck to him in his future endeavors.”
Omarion and his team then released this statement on Friday night to further explain and iterate his reason for not being with Young Money:
“I have a lot of respect and admiration for the genius of Lil Wayne and the entire Young Money family,” he said. “I asked to be released from the label to pursue other opportunities that were recently presented to me. Because of our relationship, Lil Wayne had no issue with us ending our business relationship and released me from the label. Lil Wayne and I have nothing but love for each other, there is no beef. I also wanted to make it clear that my company nor did I, leak the song, ‘I Get It In,’ and I want to dispel any rumors that have surfaced. I appreciate my relationship with Young Money/ Cash Money and look forward to doing business in the future. There will be a major announcement regarding my career and my new album, Ollusion, coming next week.”
At press time, Omarion is currently working on his next album that has been in the works since 2008. The last time O even graced an album was that of a compilation that also involved Bow Wow, entitled ‘Face Off.’
Keep posted to 24hourhiphop.com for updated news on the future of Omarion.
Where has this man been? I mean damn, I thought he fell off the face of the earth. So he is no longer signed to T.U.G. or he is? Either way, what is it with Cash Money and Young Money picking up all these artists, Bow Wow signs to Cash Money, and then Omarion gets dropped. I’m quite sure they have something brewing in the pot; I guess we just have to wait and see.
