Kanye West steps into
the ring with 50 Cent
Last week, I reported that 50 Cent was moving his album release date to September 11, to avoid
conflict with the Labor Day rush, well apparently Kanye West has stepped up to the plate to challenge Fif with the
release of his album on the same day. Competition is high and in anticipation,
who will sell more?
News has been buzzing all the over the net about these two
heavyweights going head to head on dropping both albums on the same day, trying
to top each other’s sales. So far the rap sheet reads, “50 Cent pushes album
release from June 26 to September 4.” To compliment that, he releases a
statement saying, “I believe the world should receive my music on the same day
as everyone else.” Weeks pass, “50 Cent pushes album release from September 4
to September 11.” Interscope releases a statement saying, “We thought it wise
to push the release date a week up to avoid the Labor Day holiday. And the
opponent, “West pushes release date from September to August.” In the
beginning, we heard that since Interscope pushed 50’s album back, Def Jam
thought it better marketing to push West’s album up to a earlier release date.
Several weeks later, “West pushes his album to September 18,” but the exact day
wasn’t permanent as of yet. Now news headlines are circulating all across the
industry, Kanye West is set to release Graduation
on same day as 50 Cent’s Curtis.
Both heavyweights are in for a major battle, the question now is, Whose album
is in more high demand? September 11, 2007, Graduation vs. Curtis, the bell as
sounded.
West’s single Stronger
has made a huge impact on radio rotation, but then again, I Get Money has quickly circulated
across the internet. 50’s first two singles really let me down, but Kanye has
always had a force to be reckoned with. For once, I’m going to leave this up to
the fans to decide.
50 Cent Sues Online
Company
We’ve all seen ads all over the internet with different
artists on them providing links that allow people to click and win things when
they play a mini-game. Well, apparently 50 Cent filed a lawsuit against an
online ad company called Traffix Inc. for the use of his image portraying
violent tendencies without the proper written consent from him or his
affiliates. The online ad, in question,
entrails a cartoon flash with an image of 50 Cent jumping back and forth, the
idea behind the game advertises the bogus winnings of either five free
ringtones or $5,000 in cold cash if you shoot at Fif in the cartoon flash. 50
Cent is seeking $1 million in damages.
Somebody must have a lot of animosity towards this man to
make something as mediocre as an online ad. They really have nothing else to do
with their lives.
