Lionel Richie speaks
out about Nicole Ritchie

On Saturday, June 7, 2007, the world renowned Lionel Ritchie performed in New Orleans
at the Essence Festival alongside
many other artists including, the Isley
Brothers
, Johnny Gill, Keith Sweat, and Atlanta-based
artists, Ciara, and Ludacris. Calculated in attendance this
year was over 200,000 people. After Ritchie’s celebrated performance, he spoke
to the Associated Press and shed some light on his thoughts about his
daughter’s legal situations.

You may remember back on December 11, 2006, Nicole Ritchie was picked up by
officials after several drivers reported that her SUV was spotted driving
aimlessly down the wrong side of the freeway. She was arrested and charged with
DUI and pleaded not guilty to a misdemeanor charge and is set to go to trial
this Wednesday. With a previous DUI conviction in 2003, spectators are
questioning whether or not she would follow down the same path as her Simple Life co-star Paris Hilton.

At the Essence Festival, Lionel Ritchie left in a statement
these very little words:

“She’s just in an
unfortunate situation. She keeps apologizing to me, I told her, you’re doing
exactly what you’re supposed to be doing to your father at this age.  There’s just so much information out there
right now – MySpace, cell phones, the Internet. If we had had all that when The
Commodores were around, God only knows what my mother and father would have
seen.”-AP

Paris Hilton just completed her 23 days in prison; the court
has yet to decide if Nicole would have to do the same. Keep posted to 24hourhiphop.com
for further news as this story develops.

Afroman to do parody
of Waiting to Exhale

After a long hiatus away from the limelight, Afroman returns with news of a new film
he has recently been working on. It is apparently a spoof of Waiting to Exhale, named opposite this
1995 hit boldly titled, Waiting to
Inhale,
which is also the name of his recent album. Keeping with the
marijuana themes and staying high on a regular basis faded out with his song a
while back, resurrecting that idea should work out for him.

From the crazed mind that brought you Because I Got High and Colt
45
, the innovative Afroman, has severed ties with his former label
Universal and has gone independent, opening his own label called Hungry Hustler Records. After 2001’s hit Because I Got High, we haven’t heard from him since, trying not to
fall under the one hit wonder category,
he hopes to shed of light on his acting and directing career.

If you ever listen to Afroman’s lyrics you can certainly
visualize the comedic value in his songs. It was apparent that music wasn’t
really working out for him, I’m quite curious to see where comedy films will
take him.

Bow Wow, Mariah
Carey, JD and Swizz show a Lil’ L.O.V.E to Bone Thugs N Harmony

Bone Thugs N
Harmony’s
new single from their recent album Strength & Loyalty have been buzzing all over the airwaves even
before the last single finished it’s rotation. Lil’ L.O.V.E is the hit single produced by Jermaine Dupri featuring Bow
Wow
and Mariah Carey. The video
to this single was shot in Los Angeles
and directed by veteran Chris Robinson. On set were M.C., Bow Wow, J.D., the
last three remaining Bone members, and even a guest spot of the One Man Band himself Swizz Beatz. According to Bow Wow and
JD, it is a remarkable experience to work with legends with such talent. Check
in our 24 On Demand section to view the Lil’
L.O.V.E
video.

Even without Bizzy, Bone still going to stay Bone. It goes
to show, the doubt that people carried about them not being the same was
definitely proved wrong.  But don’t quote
me, I am still a Bizzy fan to the heart but until they reconcile their
differences, Bone Thugs N Harmony will still be the original Bone just
excluding Bizzy. And Flesh, we looking out for him, too, when he gets out of
prison, he will complete the legendary group.

50 Cent dishes out
his own Cash

If you recently read XXL
Magazine
, then you would have read on how 50 Cent spent his own cash so that his fellow G-Unit artists or
basically his opening acts can roll with their own entourages on stage and feel
more content. While on tour with these artists, the reported calculated amount
that was spent out of Fif’s own pocket was approximately $8.5 million.

That’s a real deep budget plan just to have your own crew
roll with you. So besides air fare and hotel stay, he has to feed these people
too, more power to the money maker. I’m just going to leave it like that, I
need to stop stating negative comments about this man, people are apparently
thinking I’m hating on him. I ain’t trying to knock the man’s hustle, he does
what he does and that’s real.
