Mariah Carey Discusses ‘Obsessed’ Video

Mariah Carey has been known for her many chart topping hits that she seems to have on a somewhat regular basis. Every single time she releases an album, that first single is always a hit. Between the beat, the lyrics, and the catchy hook that always grabs her fans attention, the record eventually becomes a certified hit in a very short period of time. Her newest song entitled, ‘Obsessed,’ off her forthcoming twelfth studio has already been receiving critical acclaim and top spins.

We have all been aware of the lyrical content being allegedly aimed at Eminem, content that MC and Nick Cannon still claim was not aimed at anyone in particular and that it was just a coincidence, all in response to a track he recorded directly targeting MC. Either way, the recently released track is still climbing the charts at a rapid rate with the video released sometime last week. The video was directed by Brett Ratner and has MC featured throughout the video as two separate characters, herself and a male stalker. She recently spoke to MTV News about the recently released video of her latest single and spoke on the ideas and concepts that was put into the segments, especially her playing a male stalker.

These were her comments:

“Everybody started having their own speculations about who the stalker was. I’m like, look, when I look at that stalker and me with the beard and the whole 9 yards, I look like my cousin Chris. I do. I look like my brother and my cousin Chris. So basically, you know, all the speculation about who I’m playing in the video, it’s not accurate.”

When MTV News inquired about whose idea it was for her to portray her male stalker, Ratner gave the credit all to MC, while she bestowed the idea upon her husband Nick Cannon:

“Well, I live for a disguise, but … I love the anonymity of it, but actually it was Nick’s idea, ’cause we were going after different comedians, comediennes. The thing is that Nick was like, ‘Why don’t you just play the stalker?’ and I’m like, ‘I could do that ’cause I’ve been acting lately,’ I’ve done a lot of different things and I’m very proud of the work that I’ve done lately, but the thing is that this was the chance to work with Brett Ratner.”

MC’s new album is officially entitled ‘Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel’ set to be released on September 15, 2009.

Who are they fooling? The whole damn song is about Slim Shady, everything from the pill-popping to the sex claims. Either way, there is no reason for Shady to be lying anyway, I think he did smash MC and decided to talk about it in his songs. She’s probably in denial and refuses to admit she did do something with Em. The song is going to do what it do and make it to that level where it will top the charts, Eminem or not, The Dream and Tricky Stewart gave MC a banging track.

The Game Ready to Go to War with Jay-Z

The ongoing rivalry between The Game and Jay-Z has been brewing amongst the media and its own inner circle for quite some time now. Shows upon shows, Game has been blatant in his words when calling out Jay to audiences across the globe. It seems as though he has every intention in entering a lyrical war with Hov regardless of the circumstances or situations. Jay, on the other hand, has also been retorting back at the Game with freestyles of his own at numerous venues he’s been performing at, he has not backed down and knowing his stats, he probably will not.

Game responded to those sets of verses when he was recently interviewed by 103 Jamz in Norfolk, Virginia. The west coast rapper verbally attacked Jay’s age, his wife Beyonce, and his inability to have children. He continues to state that he has never lost a Hip-Hop battle when it came to other artists self-acclaiming himself as the King of Battles.

Hov also had words of his own about the criticism he’s been getting over the years.

These were his comments to Reuters:

“I hear it all the time — ‘Yo, he should let the young guys, the new generation of guys, come in,’ but you don’t become the front-runner in music because someone lets you. You have to claim your shoes. … If you grow up listening to hip-hop, you love hip-hop, and that’s the end of it. But if you’re a 30-year-old rapper still trying to make music like you’re 15, then you’re making it narrow. At my age, I can’t relate to a 15-year-old. I deal with mature and relevant topics for my age group — it has to all be based on true emotions. The more diversity and the more mature we make hip-hop, the bigger the net you cast. … Kanye is really the father to the next generation — he’s from the school of Q-Tip, and now Drake and Kid Cudi are from the school of ‘Ye. And, when you look at Kanye, you have to look at Lil Wayne. I think they’re like Kobe Bryant and LeBron James.”

The Game states that if Jay responds with a diss record, the war will begin. He promises another 400 bars, but this time he really plans to put his pen down on the paper and write some destructive lyrics.

Keep posted to 24hourhiphop.com for updated news on this developing rivalry with The Game and Jay-Z.

This has got to be either The Game’s version of a publicity stunt or his way of getting attention from the media. But seriously, Game is way over his head with this one. I can understand 50 Cent and Ja Rule, but Jay, he better be ready for a lyrical pounding himself, cause Hov will not let down. If this goes farther than we anticipate, it might be more controversial than that of Jay’s feud with Nas. It will be quite interesting and this is just the beginning.

Video of Drake Discussing Gucci Mane and his Top 5 Girls

I came across this video of Drake being interviewed by a couple of local video journalists in Columbus, Ohio. They go in on asking questions about Gucci Mane stating he is a huge fan, but that not many people know who he is as yet. He continues on saying that LeBron James will become the best player the NBA has ever seen before going into his pick of his top 5 girls he would get at, ranging them between actress, model, and porn star to milfs.

On the real, if I would have interviewed him I would have done a way better job. My questions would have been more versatile based on his music and especially his recent appearance on the BET Awards. These two were just clowning around way too much, I would definitely went in on his career and everything, but it is what it is, when that time comes, you’ll see what I mean.
