Beef between DJ Drama and Young Jeezy
New York, NY – It become apparent that ever since the Dirty Awards a great deal of beef has been circulated all across the media and the industry. Not only did T.I.’s camp and Shawty Lo’s camp bump heads, apparently LA the Darkman, who is part of DJ Drama’s camp and his business partner, somehow collided with a member of Jeezy’sCorporate Thugz squad. According to Darkman, the story goes that the brawl stemmed from when Jeezy insinuated the word ‘Fuck’ in front of Drama’s name at The Dream’s September album release party. Since then, there is still widespread speculation surrounding that.
Sometime last Thursday (December 4), an email blast containing a track entitled ‘They Keep Talking’ was sent out by SRC Records, Darkman’s label, circulating across the net. The subject matter on the track is indicating a diss towards Jeezy. Drama commented on the track and insisted that the track wasn’t geared towards Jeezy. The history of Drama and Jeezy has gone back since before the release of his debut album under Def Jam. Within the past decade, they’ve released mega mixtapes with infamous titles which included: ‘Gangsta Grillz: Trap or Die,’ ‘Can’t Ban the Snowman,’ ‘I Am the Street Dream,’ and their very first joint collaboration, ‘Tha Streets Iz Watchin.’
Recently, Drama spoke to MTV News about the situation between him and Jeezy. He downplayed the beef and insists that there isn’t any. These were his comments.
“As far as the altercation [at the Dirty Awards] goes, I can’t really speak on it, because I wasn’t there at the time. The Dirty Awards had already gotten crazy. As far as Young Jeezy and DJ Drama, DJ Drama and Young Jeezy made history together. I think DJ Drama is very important in Young Jeezy’s career, as Young Jeezy is important in DJ Drama’s career. I respect Jeezy, I like his music. There may be some things we don’t see eye to eye on. Even with that, that’s something that’s between me and Jeezy, between homies and family. At the end of the day, I’m out playing good music, he makes good music, I rock it. Other than that, it’s not too much I can speak upon.”
MTV asked Drama what might have progressed their falling out from the beginning, this was his answer.
“You may have to ask Jeezy about that. I continue to move forward. I’m sure in the future, me and Jeezy will work together. I’m here to get busy, man. I’m a DJ. That’s what I do. I support good music.”
Drama continues to omit that he’s played Jeezy’s ‘My President’ continuously throughout all his spins and gigs.
“I love that song. That’s the anthem. Why wouldn’t I [play it]? If there are things me and Jeezy need to speak about, that’s for us to do. It’s not for the public. I heard LA’s interview when he was on the Internet. Again, we’re not here to escalate anything or condone anything, we’re here to make good music. I’m gonna speak highly of everybody, because we’re in Atlanta. How does that look to the fans? How does that look to the people if DJ Drama and Young Jeezy are beefing? That’s not what we’re here for. People wanna see us make history again.”
At press time, Young Jeezy has yet to respond to Drama or Darkman’s track. Bankhead resident T.I. has even offered his assistance if need be or before the situation escalates any further.
Keep posted to 24hourhiphop.com for updated news as this situation develops.
On the real, both Drama and Jeezy have definitely made history, I agree. They’ve both have added elements to the raise of their careers separately. Between mixtapes like ‘Trap or Die’ and ‘I Am the Street Dream,’ it’s obvious that they are valuable assets within the Atlanta city limits.
T.I. Speaks on Signing Young Buck to Grand Hustle
Atlanta, GA – Last week 24hourhiphop.com broke the news that ex-G-Unit member Young Buck was apparently in negotiations to sign with TIP’s imprint Grand Hustle. After that aired, speculation has been swarming all across the industry and the media on whether or not that was really going to occur even at all. Buck fans were content that he was finally going to find a home and this time a label based in the south. Even before the venture was surfaced on the net, T.I. and Buck have been longtime friends within the industry.
The King of the South recently spoke to MTV News confirming the rumors that have circulating all across the industry. He explained his thoughts and where he’s going with the whole situation.
“Buck is a personal partner of mine, we’ve spoken, about a month or two ago, but we didn’t iron out no particulars. I would definitely be willing to speak to Buck about that, but I haven’t.”
However, as we are all well aware, Buck is still legally signed under G-Unit/Interscope until the end of his contract. 50 Cent told any labels interested in signing Buck must go through him first and foremost. T.I. commented that he’s not quite sure what the situation is between Buck and G-Unit.
I don’t know that situation, that’s why I would have to speak to Buck first. I haven’t even begun to deliberate. I haven’t even started the conversation with, ‘What would it take to get you over here.’ That’s just the conversation that’s been floating around the rumor mill. When I spoke to him, it was more, ‘Hey, how you doing?’ speaking as partners. We didn’t speak professionally. Just him making sure I was all right. Him asking me how I’m feeling, me asking the same of him.
At press time, no negotiations have been made as they are still in the developing phases of an official signing. As soon as any more news is released you’ll be the first to know, keep posted to 24hourhourhiphop.com.
Damn, finally a real label wants to sign a real lyricist. T.I. definitely is making a great decision in signing probably the last only talented artist still under G-Unit. And Buck should know that if he does sign to Grand Hustle is future will be set in print. This signing will probably be an historic event in Hip-Hop. Maybe Grand Hustle needs to start scouting in Miami as well.
Warrant Issued for DMX’s Arrest…..Again
Cave Creek, AZ – Continuing with his legal woes, the Darkman X is on the loose again with yet another warrant for his arrest for failing to appear for court for his initial crime in Arizona.
A Maricopa County judge raised his bond to $120,000 for his no show. According to X’s court appointed defense attorney Charles Kozela, his reason for failure to appear for his court date was due to the fact that X has been in and out of rehabilitation facilities for the past recent weeks. The judge, however, did not except said reasons and that his bond must be paid in full.
At press time, X is now set to appear in court this coming Friday (December 12) for a series of arrests in Arizona, including 11 counts of drug possession and drug-paraphernalia possession, allegedly giving false information at a hospital, and seven counts of animal cruelty.
This shit will never end. This man continuously piles charges on top of charges like he thinks it’s just going to go away. It’s not helping his musical career much either. What does he expect to do? What I need to do is get an interview with him to see what is going through his head on a daily basis.
