Travis Barker Thanks Everyone for their Ongoing Support
Less than a month after being involved in that fatal plane crash that took the lives of two of his friends and associates, plus the two pilots in South Carolina, one half of TRVSDJ-AM, celebrity drummer Travis Barker, has just recently posted a blog on his myspace giving his thanks to his fans and family. He includes his own personal comments about his personal assistant and close friend, Chris Baker, and his security, Charles ‘Che’ Still.
There were the postings taken off his myspace that also included photos from the hospital:
“I want to give my deepest thanks to everyone who has helped deal with the current situation. First and foremost, Chris and Che were my friends. I would give up anything to have them here with us today, healthy and happy. To call them my employees does them such a disservice, as they were so much more than that. Chris was my best friend before anything else, and I can never put into words how much he will be missed. Che was an amazing person as well and I was honored to have him in my life. I am simply amazed and will be forever grateful for all the support everyone has shown to Chris and Che’s families. It’s a testament to how many lives they touched in a positive way.”
Barker also explains his current condition and what he had endure medically to recovery from his severe injuries:
“Like the doctors said from the beginning, it’s been a slow recovery process. I am coming up on the 7th of my surgeries Monday. Today I finally was able to move all my fingers on my right hand. Every step seems huge at this point, and I’m doing EVERYTHING I can possibly do to get back to my kids. Yes, I did start eating meat again, but if it helps me to be home holding my little humans sooner, then it’s all worth it. The staff here are all bomb! Dr. Grossman and his staff are the best. The BOSS Barbara, and nurses Betty, Jay, Emily, Julio, Lolita, and Stephanie (with the best scrubs ever!) are all taking the best care of me.
“My good friend Armen has been kind enough to save me from the hospital food, and brings Jamba Juice, Wahoos, or whatever else I need to keep my calories and protein levels high.”
In the same post, he also ends any speculation of him and his celebrity ex-wife ever reconciling or even getting remarried. He continues forward after a brief omit about his ex-wife:
“Despite any rumors you might have heard via my EX-wife Shanna Moakler, who I have not seen since the week I checked in, I’ve been treated amazingly well, both here in LA and in Georgia. The hospitals I’ve been treated at are THE BEST. My friends and family have been amazing. My pops has been with me ANY time I need him. My sisters, James, Skinhead Rob, Daniel, Hoover, Armen and of course Ricardo and Nicole, have all shown amazing support. JD and Mark Hoppus both took the time to come visit and offer their support as well. Estevan Oriol even came in with a calendar.”
Towards the end, Barker thanks his family, friends, and especially his fans for their ongoing support while he was in the hospital; he even includes comments about his counterpart DJ AM, who was discharged before him:
Saying ‘thank you’ to all these guys just wouldn’t be enough…
‘I got to see AM the other day. Seeing him after he was discharged was an inspiration. I saw just how awesome the doctors’ work here is, and got to see how well he is doing. I am so happy to see him doing well, and we are both so lucky and grateful that we are alive today. I’m even using some of this time to help design the summer ’09 Famous line. Maxx, Jose, Bill have been awesome helping to keep the machine going. These are some seriously dedicated people, and I’m lucky to call them friends.
“Now I’m just counting the days until I can leave. I can’t wait to get home to play drums with my son, and go for bike rides with my daughter. I can’t wait to see the pictures from Landon’s ‘Jack and Sally Nightmare Before Christmas’ birthday party that we had for him today. I am bummed that I couldn’t be there, but thank God I’ll be around to see many, many more.”
“Thank you everyone for your support!”
At press time, Dr. Fred Mullins, medical director of the Joseph M. Still Burn Center reported that Barker sustained second and third degree burns on his lower body and torso and is expected to fully recover within a year. We here at 24hourhiphop.com wish Barker the best and hope to see him on stage again, real soon.
It’s good to know that Travis is doing well; we wish him the best as always. It’s quite obvious missing his kids and missing their parties is what’s pushing him to do whatever he can to recover sooner. I’m just surprised he abandoned his strict vegan diet to add protein into his system; I guess you have to do whatever’s necessary to recover.
Jay-Z’s Performance is Overpriced
London, United Kingdom – The effects of the recession are beginning to be a burden for everyone, apparently clubs overseas in our allied England has turned down the appearance fee for Hova to perform in their clubs. Even after his representatives lowered the amount to a more substantial amount, they are still quite overwhelmed with the asked amount.
The amount that they have asked for is a whooping £25000. If you convert that amount to dollars it adds up to practically $42,500. If you think about it’s really not that much just to host a show, but the clubs are not dishing out. His representatives even lowered it to £7500, but the clubs are not budging.
Sources close the clubs left this comment to theBuzz concerning Jay’s appearance fee:
“No club is willing to stump up the cash. At this rate he might even have to party for free.”
In related news, Hov’s eleventh studio LP, ‘The Blueprint 3,’ will be his last at the Def Jam imprint. He will commence with his Live Nation contract a little after sales rank in, the promotional tours, and when he decides to work on his next album after ‘The Blueprint 3.’ That album has been set to be released on December 2, unless otherwise noted by Def Jam, just a couple of weeks after the release of his brethren Kanye West’s ‘808s & Heartbreaks,’ under the same imprint.
I can understand where the clubs in the UK are feeling, that adds up to a lot of money, given the fact that he may or may not bring the crowd and money in return. Other way, his eleventh album will probably do the trick, but then his fee will rise.
Janet Recovers to Continue ‘Rock Witchu Tour’
Los Angeles, CA – After the cancelation of several shows over the course of the week due to an unknown illness, Janet has apparently recovered. According to Access Hollywood, she will return to the stage this Saturday (Oct. 18) in Uncasville, Connecticut.
Live Nation tour promoter left this statement to the media concerning Janet’s condition and current performance status:
“Janet, who has been under her doctor’s care and recuperating over the last week, is excited about getting back on the road and again being able to share with her fans what she feels is one of her best stage shows ever.”
Sometime last week, it was reported that she was about to appear in Greensboro, North Carolina, but cancelled the show at the last minute. Her publicist stated that she hasn’t quite recovered. This statement was released on Janet’s behalf.
“Janet was hoping to resume her tour in an effort not to disappoint her fans, however, after arriving in Greensboro, it became evident that she is not fully recovered. A local doctor advised that she not perform tomorrow.”
At press time, this is Janet’s first North American tour after seven years. She will appear in New York’s Madison Square Garden at the new rescheduled date, November 1. Hopefully she can make it to that.
I’m sticking to my first notion, she wanted time off. Apparently, her age, which is not a factor on her fineness, is getting to her. All that dancing and moving about is probably causing fatigue. Either way I’m not hating, I’m just saying. I’m glad she’s back on her feet and ready to hit the stage once again.
