Ross and 50 Comment on the Video with Khaled’s Mother

New York, NY – It seems as if this whole controversy involving Ross and 50 has somehow gotten out of hand and it has become a topic for media frenzy all over the net and the industry. We’ve always known 50 to take his feuds with artists to different heights, but it always stayed on a music level, recently with a video that surfaced sometime last week on ThisIs50.com, it has seriously gone deeper than rap, deeper than music. Many fans were left bewildered and shocked by the way the video played out. That video has since been removed from the website, but for those that saw it, that’s something that will be discussed for a while.

For those who haven’t seen the video clip as yet, let me give you a synopsis of what was portrayed in it. 50 apparently wrote a poem about DJ Khaled entitled ‘A Psychic Told Me,’ in that poem he expressed and admitted that he sliced Khaled’s tires. While the poem continues, the video exhibits footage of Khaled’s mother’s house as well as her workplace with her sleeping at the counter. The interesting part of the whole scenario was the way 50 recited the poem atop a suspenseful instrumental. It was quite psychotic. That wasn’t a persona that is normally expressed in music; he took it to a personal level.

Interestingly enough, last Thursday, both Ross and Khaled were in New York attending a video shoot for The Dream’s ‘Rockin’ That Thang (Remix)’ which also features Fabolous, Juelz Santana, and Ludacris. While at the shoot, MTV News was also in attendance and of course they questioned both Ross and Khaled about the incident with 50 Cent and the video.

Khaled wasn’t amused with the video and stated his comments to MTV News in a short yet subtle answer:

“I’m not gonna let him bait me, but Ricky Ross had plenty to say on the latest round.”

Ross had plenty to say indeed, he spoke his mind on the whole situation and was quite stern about his response:

“I’mma be honest; I didn’t have a reaction. Watching that, understanding the monkey, it’s like it’s no threat whatsoever. To me, it’s a sign of reassuring your people’s safety. Where I come from, Gs, if they had that information [of where your enemies and their families live], I’m not exposing nothing. I’m acting like I don’t know nothing. To the real Gs, they don’t even watch it or entertain it. Khaled, his mom knows she’s safe. All the Gs worldwide know what it is, and it gets no points.”

50 also added his remarks about the video to radio personality Miss Info sometime over the weekend. He admits that it was in retaliation to Ross’ diss website ThisIsCurly.com as well as the photoshopped photo of his son’s head on a monkey’s body.

“How come everyone hears the shot, but nobody sees the slap before the shot?” He even added his own strategy on implementing revenge tactics: “You push, I punch. You stab, I shoot.”

At press time, ThisIsCurly.com was reported to have been hacked leaving a posted video of 50 Cent portraying a crude comedic pimp entitled ‘Pimpin’ Curly.’ It is apparently in response to Ross’ diss track ‘Kiss My Pinky Ring, Curly.’ On the side of the track, 50 has recorded and released another diss track entitled ‘Tia Told Me,’ which has also surfaced on the net, it is all in reference to Ross’ baby mother Tia Kemp.

Keep posted to 24hourhiphop.com for more updated news on this whole situation.

I’ve been waiting on the moment to respond to this whole Ross and 50 controversy. On the real, what is going through 50’s head on a daily basis; does he really just sit there and think of ways to get at Ross on a mental level? It is quite obvious Ross or Khaled isn’t the least bit concerned of the recent video, I mean honestly, in this industry we all have lawyers that take care of situations like this. In my opinion, Ross has the advantage on a lyrical level over 50, but on the other hand 50 exhibits that he has the power to obtain just about anything. Now the only thing that is of importance is the question: ‘Will any of this effect either of their record sales on a positive or negative note?’ Whichever way it goes, both artists have albums on the horizon on the verge of release within the next upcoming months. We just have to wait and see.

Jay-Z Comments on Rihanna in the Midst of the Aftermath

Phoenix, AZ – After the incident that occurred with Chris Brown and Rihanna and particularly the worldwide audience that it has received through the media and hearsay, many fans expressed their reactions as some took Brown’s side and others took Rihanna’s. Recently, industry artists even expressed their comments about the whole situation and how it went down. Some even had a chance to speak with both R&B vocalists personally to give advice and support.

Apparently, Jay-Z has been quite concerned about the whole situation, especially the condition that Rihanna is in. We are well aware that Hov is single-handedly responsible for her famed career as well as artists like Ne-Yo, Ross, and Jeezy, as he was the one to sign all of them to Def Jam during his reign as CEO. Jay recently made comments to the media about Rihanna and how he views the situation during the NBA All-Star Game this weekend in Phoenix, Arizona. It’s interesting how he’s not too concerned with Brown as much as Rihanna.

This is what Hov told reporters about his personal thoughts on Rihanna’s well being and how the media and the fans should respond to it:

It’s not a sound bite, this is a real situation. If you can’t have compassion for others, just imagine it being your sister or your mom or somebody like that, then think about how you should talk about that. I just think we all should just support her. She’s going through a tough time. You gotta realize she’s very young as well. She’s very young.”

At press time, MTV has confirmed that they will be running a show entitled ‘Chris Brown & Rihanna: Love in Trouble’ set to air on Monday, February 16 at 6pm. The 30 minute show will discuss personal issues about Brown and Rihanna with family members from both sides and medical physicians with the events leading up to the night of the altercation.

It has been quite obvious that Jay-Z and Rihanna were very close, at one point in time media was reporting that the two had an alleged relationship while Jay was still dating Beyonce. As a matter of fact, Beyonce wasn’t even quite fond of Rihanna because of the speculations surrounding her and Jay. It’s interesting how Hov doesn’t mention a thing about Chris as he is only worried about Rihanna, I’m actually curious to know if he is really enraged with him with all the rumors about Chris being a ‘walking dead man.’ If he’s smart he’d stay away from anyone at Def Jam, including Jay-Z.

Kanye West States that The Blueprint 3 will be a Hip-Hop Masterpiece

New York, NY – The Chi-Town native has been close friends with Jay-Z on a business and personal level even before he was signed to Roc-A-Fella and Def Jam back in 2000. Kanye West has been working with Hov since the first installment to his Blueprint series that was released in 2001. Since then, Hov has been coming to Ye for practically most of his upcoming projects, Ye has literally graced many of Jay’s tracks as a producer and a feature. More recently, Ye continues to discuss Hov’s next upcoming project, the Blueprint 3, that apparently neither of them were in rush to finish. The both of them are taking their time to complete the album because it is said to be Jay-Z’s best album to date as well as the last album under contract with the long time Def Jam imprint. He doesn’t seem to be in any rush to begin his Live Nation contract anytime soon, either.

This is what the Louis Vuitton Don told Sway and King Tech about what distinguished work he has included into Hova’s ‘The Blueprint 3.’

“I finished his album and he released four songs that were potentially gonna be on the album. So I gotta go back and do four. I just did one beat the other day in Hawaii, probably one of the best hip-hop beats of all time, if I do say so myself. I just gotta do three more beats and we’re done, ’cause he’s got classics. He’s got songs that are better than any of the things you’ve heard leaked.”

Ye omits that he has put forth his best work into the production of Hov’s anticipated upcoming album, giving himself the credit to produce a perfect Jay-Z caliber beat.

“You know what it was, every year I do two albums’ worth of really dope beats. This year, Common did his album with Pharrell, and I did ‘808s & Heartbreak’ and ‘Blueprint 3.’ So just imagine the caliber of beats on the last two Common albums I did. Jay-Z has those types of beats. Those caliber of beats. A beat like ‘The People,’ that’s the highest caliber of beat.”

He continues on to state that even though he’s given Jay some phenomenal beats, he still has a few things up his sleeves for his upcoming album, especially a track with Beyonce.

“I’m just gonna do what I’m gonna do and people are gonna love it because I do really fresh shit. When I do it, I feel like I’m gonna rap, I’m gonna go back-and-forth on it. I feel like I’m gonna sing here and there. Because I used Auto-Tune so much, it put me in the mode of doing melodies. I got a new song coming out with Beyoncé called ‘Ego.’ I don’t know why she wanted me on it. I didn’t use Auto-Tune, but I hit certain lines because I used it so much it’s like almost having training wheels. So it’s incorporating new styles.”

At press time, Def Jam has yet to release a confirmed release date for ‘The Blueprint.’ There has not been a confirmed date nor title for Kanye’s next album either, however both artists do seem to release their albums sometime in 2009, Jay early 2009 and Ye late 2009.

Keep posted to 24hourhiphop.com for updated news on their album release dates.

On the real, I’m interested to see what Kanye and Jay have put together for this upcoming album. It was great idea on Jay’s part to go to Kanye for the production elements, but besides the four tracks that have already been released, you can’t help but wonder what the hell Ye has planned for the whole album. It is obvious that Jay is a monster lyricist and Kanye is diverse producer. So literally anything is possible for this next album, the last album on Def Jam.

I didn’t even know she was pregnant until the airing of the Grammy’s. Well, congratulations to her and the father of the child on the arrival of their first child. Hopefully that not conflict with her recording schedule, tour dates, or even the Oscars.

Video of 50 Cent as Pimpin’ Curly

New York, NY – So 50 Cent has a comedic side to him, it’s funny how he portrays the serious musician and entrepreneur, as well as all his films where he’s playing a character with a huge ego. This video that was posted on ThisIsCurly.com exhibits a hilarious side of 50 has a crude annoying pimp slapping around a prostitute actress that apparently the baby mother of Pistol Pete.
