Saints Tower over Colts with a Stunning Victory at Super Bowl XLIV
Miami, FL – The New Orleans Saints came, they saw, and they definitely conquered. Who would have known that their first appearance ever in the Super Bowl would be their first victory? The underdogs outshined the masses with this one as the nation favored the Colts weeks before the game was even a major thought.
The biggest game of the season was held last night (February 7) in Miami, Florida. The Indianapolis Colts and the New Orleans Saints met for the first time in the Super Bowl in an all out clash of the titans. This was the Colts 4th appearance in the Super Bowl while it was the first time the Saints ever made it to this length. The first half began with Colts showing their expertise taking the lead with a touchdown and a field goal while the Saints trailed behind with 2 field goals keeping the score at a real tight 6 to 10. Throughout the whole first half, Manning and the Colts dominated with receiving and rushing yards. The Saints were unsuccessful at trying to score a touchdown before the end of the 2nd quarter.
The opening of the second half caused a huge stir as the Saints kickoff towards the Colts was a play fake into an onside kick that actually favored in their behalf. During the course of the 3rd and 4th quarter, we saw a different set of Saints as they took the field with more fierce determination than the beginning of the game. After continuous complete and incomplete plays coming from both teams, minutes before the end of the 4th quarter when everything looked as though the Colts were on the winning path and a tie was unavoidable at that point, low and behold Manning throws an interception right into the hands of number 22 Tracy Porter and with 80 some yards in front of him, he takes it all way to the end zone for an amazing touchdown. That was seriously the turning point of the game as the Saints gained momentum and continued with that until the end of the game. Everyone saw the look on Manning’s face that night and knew what he was going through. The Saints wins their first Super Bowl since their inauguration into the League. Drew Brees was voted MVP of the game last night, but there were other key players that assisted him and they included Jeremy Shockey, Marques Colston, Reggie Bush,Jonathan Vilma, and of course Tracy Porter.
Congratulations to the Saints and the City of New Orleans for an amazing victory.
Drake & Birdman Discuss Wayne’s Upcoming Prison Time
Miami, FL – One Saints fan that we all know so well must have been quite ecstatic last night as his home team triumphed over the Colts. Lil Wayne, who was not at the stadium last night, was in fact in Miami at Club Dolce celebrating his farewell party as he will be turning himself in on Tuesday to serve his sentence.
As you might recall, Wayne was arrested after a concert in New York in July of 2007 and was charged with gun possession. As part of a plea deal, Wayne is expected to serve an 8 to 12 month sentence with parole based on good behavior. This upcoming Tuesday (February 9), he is expected to be in court to enter his plea and immediately turn himself in to serve his sentence.
This weekend was Wayne’s final weekend as a free man. Last night, he celebrated his farewell party in Miami at Club Dolce with his closest friends, family, and of course his Cash Money and Young Money family. In attendance was: Drake, Birdman, Nicki Minaj, Gudda Gudda, Mack Maine, Short Dawg, Jae Millz and several other members of the Cash Money/ Young Money family. His former Hot Boy brethren B.G. was also in the building to show support alongside the likes of Wale, Sean Garrett and Houston MC Trae Tha Truth.
In the recent issue of Rolling Stone Magazine, Birdman and Drake spoke on the matter of Wayne and his prison time. Both artists were quite emotional about the whole situation. These were their comments:
“Wayne is my son,” Birdman told the magazine, with his eyes reportedly welling up. “I’ve been with him forever. It will be the first time in my life I’ll not be reachable to him. We work together; we’re on the road together. We’re always together. I try not to even think about it. I’m losing something in my soul, in my heart, in my life.”
Drake spoke on behalf of the entire Young Money family and stated that he was a strong individual and the reason why Young Money is so put together quite well:
“He’s a strong-willed guy. I can imagine it would take a toll on anybody. I just hope that he comes out for the better. I think you’ll miss everything about Wayne, I don’t think there will be anybody like Lil Wayne ever again in hip-hop. He paralyzes a room when he walks into it — his wordplay, the excitement that he brings to his music. I think that for eight months, a lot of us will have to work a lot harder to keep hip-hop as exciting as it’s been for the last two years.”
We’ve been following Lil Wayne throughout his trials and tribulations with this case and we knew the day would come. We wish Wayne the best and look forward to seeing him in 8 months. I can only imagine what his Cash Money/Young Money family is going through. According to MTV, he will not have to cut his hair while in Rikers Island.
