Presidential Candidate Senator Barack Obama Supports Hip-Hop

New York, NY – Very rarely does 24hourhiphop.com cover anything in politics, the actually norm would be that politics and music don’t usually mesh, however the past couple of elections somehow they’ve intertwined the both and some supporters even make it a major issue. Heavyweight artists from different parts of the nation and the industry have expressed deep support for Obamaand his cause. Whether it is in their lyrics or their interviews, someway or another, their opinion have been recognized everywhere. Most recently, even in the midst of presidential debates and the election approaching, Senator Obama set aside some time to speak with MTV News and was asked how he felt about the music genre that supports him ever-so distinctively.

This was his response to that question that America has been waiting to hear:

“I enjoy it, but these days I don’t have the time to listen to it all the time. I’m a little older than hip-hop culture, I was there at the beginning, but I was already getting older. What I’ve appreciated, watching this hip-hop generation is to see how entrepreneurial they’ve been. In the past, musicians oftentimes were commodities. They were just shuffled around. Obviously, they did well, but they didn’t have the vision to say, ‘I’m going to build a business. I’m going to build my own studio. I’m going to create my own production operations.’ I think they’re a lot more sophisticated than in the past, and that is a wonderful thing.”

He continued to add that he is very optimistic about the growth and the future of Hip-Hop and its business.

“What I’m starting to see is them stretching out more and thinking about social responsibility and how they can impact the culture in a positive way and I hope that continues.”

Interestingly enough, MTV News even insisted on inquiring on who he thought was the greatest MC of all time, his reluctantly declined to answer and ended on that note with a laugh.

“Oh no, I’m not going to get caught up in all that.”

At press time, the first presidential debate is behind him and he looks on to yet another face off with his rival Senator McCain in a townhall format set to take place on October 7, 2008 at the Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee.

The first presidential debate was quite interesting, everything from their facial expressions to their gestures and characteristics. McCain never looked Obama in the eye, while Obama referred to him as ‘John’ towards the beginning. It was interesting how both sides kept at it with the accusations and verbal attacks. However McCain kept on insisting that Obama was full of naivety and that his experience in warfare was little to none. I look forward to the next debate.

Jermaine Dupri Speaks on the Condition of Travis Barker

Atlanta, GA – The aftermath of the plane crash that occurred in South Carolina left both Travis Barker and DJ AM alive, yet sad and grim. Barker lost both his personal assistant, Chris Baker, and his bodyguard, Charles Still in that devastating plane crash. Both Barker and AM survived the crash and rushed to the Joseph M. Still Burn Center in Augusta, Georgia. Sometime last week, doctors told reporters that they were in the recovery.

Heavyweight producer Jermaine Dupri, native of Atlanta, Georgia, is a very close personal friend to Travis Barker recently spoke to People.com concerning his condition and his two week expected release.

“He’s doing good. He’s gonna be alright. He’s just got a lot of healing to do, He’s supposed to send a message out to everybody in a couple of days to let everybody know that he’s feeling better, he’s definitely feeling the love from everyone.”

JD included that Barker’s room was fitted with all the things to keep him comfortable for the time being.

“He’s just now getting everything in the hospital set up for him — iPods, computers, everything that he needs. You got to make sure he is comfortable.”

At press time, Barker’s counterpart, DJ AM, was in fact released from the Burn Center sometime last week and is returning to Los Angeles, according to his publicist. We look forward to Barker’s steadfast recovery.

I’m quite sure they are deeply suddenly by the loss of their friends as Barker established a foundation under his clothing line Famous Stars and Straps. Hopefully they can move on with their project TRVSDJ-AM.

Busta Rhymes Detained in United Kingdom

London, GB – In international news, veteran rapper, Busta Rhymes was briefly detained in London, England this past Thursday due to circumstances unknown to us. The concert promoter who hired Busta to do a show told reporters that immigration officers stated that he was not allowed into the country. At the time, it was confusing to what basis they held Busta on.

High Judge entitled Busta to pay bail or just immediate release. A hearing was set for that Friday for him to challenge the government’s attempt from keeping him from entering the country. According to immigration reports, Busta was denied entry into the country due to apparent ‘unresolved conviction’ in the U.S. Busta Rhymes was scheduled to appear at a charity concert in London’s Royal Albert Hall that Friday.

At press time, reports state that, ATL native, Ludacris has agreed to perform in Busta’s place. Busta Rhymes has since been released.

Let’s be real, the English have a problem with Hip-Hop artists coming to their country. I mean look what happened to Snoop Dogg when he was there the last time. What is up with that?!
