Lil Wayne & Cash Money Host 16th Annual Turkey Giveaway in New Orleans

New Orleans, LA – Ever since relocating to Miami after the devastation of Hurricane Katrina, it’s been a minute since Lil Wayne have been back to their city of origin alongside that of Birdman and Slim. This past Friday, Weezy and the Cash Money CEOs found time out of their busy schedule and took a trip back New Orleans to pass out turkeys to the residents of the city that would never be forgotten.

MTV News was at the turkey giveaway event and had a chance to speak Wayne and the Cash Money Bros.

These were Wayne’s comments:

“It’s actually been my first time back here for the past eight or nine years, and they’ve been doing this for 15 years,” Lil Wayne told MTV News. “I haven’t been back here to do this for so long just being super busy, just always on tour.”

No matter how many years may pass; Birdman and the rest of the Cash Money members have always found time to return to New Orleans and do the same thing for during Thanksgiving for the past 16 years, this year, however, marks Wayne’s return for the first time after many years and of course, the feeling is never lost.

Wayne Continued:

“Those times I did it years ago, I was just a kid and I was just doing it because Baby and Slim, we were giving away turkeys at a park and that’s what we were doin’,” Weezy said. “Now it’s a totally different feeling, because I can actually give you that and say, ‘Here, happy Thanksgiving.’ I can do that, and I can provide that for you. That’s a different feeling in general, and it’s a beautiful feeling overall.”

Slim, who is usually the quiet one out of the bunch, even spoke his piece:

“God blessed people to bless other people,” he said. “It makes it so special for us to come back home and see a smile on people’s face after they received their turkeys and all the other items that go with it. So it’s real big and real special for us.”

Even though they’ve reached the multiplatinum success over the years they still want to the people to know that they can still count of them and that things haven’t changed.

These were Birdman’s comments:

“Knowing we once were them, so for me to see that they see us hopefully it’s an inspiration for them and something positive can come out of it, because we once were them.”

It’s good to know that regardless of how much success they’ve garnered over the years that they can still give back and provide as much as they can to the less fortunate.

David Guetta Speaks on Working with Nicki Minaj

Los Angeles, CA – This past Sunday night the American Music Awards was held at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles. In attendance were many musicians, producers, and industry execs from across the nation. And of course, the main label that would be in attendance and part of the nominees was that of Young Money. YM femcee Nicki Minaj opened the show alongside mega producer David Guetta as they performed their hit record ‘Turn Me On’ together for the first time.

However, before Guetta would even hit the stage, he spoke with MTV News on the experience of working with Minaj.

These were his comments:

“To tell you the truth, the fact that I’m performing this record for the first time … I want to see the reaction that people are gonna have because they are going to hear Nicki like they’ve never heard her before,” he explained of working with Minaj. “I’m really happy today because I’m having a #1 record with Usher [for] ‘Without You,’ which is amazing [and] my first #1 as an artist in the U.S. And presenting this also, I really can’t wait to get the reaction from the American audience when they’re gonna see her sing like this because she is killing it.”

Nicki Minaj’s versatility within the music genre has always amazed many people. Between her working with Britney and now Guetta, her style will continue to evolve.

Guetta added:

“She always comes with the crazy ideas,” he said. “So it’s very exciting.”

At press time, Minaj won two trophies for the categories of Favorite Rap/Hip-Hop Artist and Favorite Rap/Hip-Hop Album for Pink Friday.
