Madonna Set to Perform at Super Bowl XLVI Halftime Show

The biggest sports event in the history of football has been played every year since its first, back in 1967. This year marks the 46th annual edition of the Super Bowl set to be played for the first time in Indianapolis at the Lucas Oil Stadium. This is the game that puts the best in the NFC against the best of the AFC. And of course, in addition to the game, the halftime show has also been considered a real big deal against the viewers as an artist of absolute caliber, no matter the genre has the honor to grace the Super Bowl stage.

Regardless of the fact that the two teams to go head to head have yet to even reach the playoffs, the halftime performer for this show has already been announced. Last year, the Black Eyed Peas graced to stage alongside special guest Usher and phenom guitarist Slash. This year, the talented Madonna has been set to perform. Her Super Bowl debut has been put together to be “imagined” by Cirque du Soleil and her longtime choreographer/creative director Jamie King.

Madonna follows a long list of artists that have graced the halftime show behind even some as Bruce Springsteen, the Rolling Stones, the Who, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, U2, Paul McCartney and Prince.

2012 looks quite prosperous for Madonna as her new movie is set to hit theaters as well as her still untitled album is set to hit stores. The first single that features Nicki Minaj and M.I.A. entitled ‘Give Me All Your Love’ will possibly drop sometime before Super Bowl. Fans are even hoping that both artists special guest alongside Madonna to perform the song live.

At press time, Super Bowl XLVI will air on NBC on the first Sunday in February (5th).

Honestly, I’m surprised of all the years that Madonna has been out and relevant that she has never performed at a Super Bowl halftime show, how could she have been overlooked. Either way, I think it’s was an awesome idea for her the grace the show, her catalog of music is quite extensive, time can only tell what she has in store for her fans. Hopefully she does debut her first single with M.I.A. and Nicki Minaj, since has already been leaked.

T.I. Praises Onstage Duet with Taylor Swift During Speak Now Tour Stop in Atlanta

T.I. has literally been on a warpath musically as he has been in the studio working vigorously recording music daily. After being on several remixes from fellow Hip-Hop friends in the industry trying to regain his spot at the top, interestingly enough, TIP even got a chance to join teen artist Taylor Swift onstage during her Speak Now tour stop in the A-Town in October to perform a duet of his ‘Live Your Life’ single.

MTV News recently had a chance to sit down with T.I. as he discussed his experiences onstage with Swift.

These were his comments:

“I was pleasantly surprised and confused,” T.I. said of receiving the phone call from Swift. “I was confused because I know it’s a phenomenal opportunity, but being T.I. — the Rubberband Man — and Taylor Swift being America’s Sweetheart, I had just gotten out of prison like two days [earlier] and all of a sudden my phone rings.”

According to MTV News, Tip says that on episode three of “The Family Hustle,” fans will see how the show came together, but he gave us a brief summary of his experience.

“There were significant differences in a Taylor Swift show from a T.I. show,” he said, clearly amused at the thought. “You could take the biggest of the biggest hip-hop artists — even a Kanye West or Jay-Z show — and their concerts or tours, they gon’ be just a world away from a [Taylor Swift] show.”

And we all know Swift has had her encounters with Kanye.

T.I. continued to state that the most notable difference was having a drama-free experience:

“Everything is so calm and cool and arranged and on time, and everything is so neat and people are quiet and polite,” T.I. said of the concert, still in disbelief. “Everything just flows smoothly, not a hitch, not a wrinkle, not a hiccup. Whereas hip-hop shows, no matter how big the production, no matter how elaborate it is, it’s always friction and ups and downs. With her, everything was smooth; nobody raised their voice.”

MTV News even caught up with Taylor back in October to ask her about the involvement of T.I. She explained that she was just grateful T.I. had even accepted the request. These were her comments:

“Well, I called T.I. the night before the show, so I felt like it’s such short notice that [he wouldn’t do it with me], and he’s just like, ‘Hey, yeah, sure,’ “she recalled. “And it was just amazing. I was so excited ’cause I’m such a fan and I thought, ‘This is such short notice, this is so ridiculous that I’m asking him to do this the night before.’ And he’s like, ‘I’ll be there.’ And he showed up for soundcheck and we were all just so starstruck.”
