R. Kelly Discusses Throat Surgery, Black Panties Album & Trey Songz
Chicago, IL – After three decades in the game, the Chi-Town vocalist that has been tantalizing women for some time now is still at it as he apparently has more music up his sleeve to be released to his dedicated fans. It’s always good to know that the 12 Play originator is still around and about.
R. Kelly recently spoke with Morning Riot Show on 107.5 WGCI in Chicago. In, what their calling, a rare interview, Kelly spoke on the aftermath of his throat surgery, his upcoming album ‘Black Panties’ being the new ‘12 Play,’ and the shots that Trey Songz fired at him.
These were his comments:
“It was really scary,” Kellz said of his surgery. “At the end of the Love Letter Tour, towards the end, I started feeling it. I thought I had a cold, but, man, I had like a cyst as big as a golf ball on my tonsils. The doctor’s though, they cut it out, they took care of me really good.”
As we all know, Kellz has been quite blatant with his sex anthems or more less ‘baby making music with songs like: ‘Your Body’s Callin’,’ ‘Ignition,’ and ‘Half on a Baby.’ R. Kelly took a gentleman’s approach on his 2010 album Love Letter. This time for his upcoming 11th studio LP, the Kellz is going to get nasty yet again.
“I just did the whole Love Letter joint and everybody thinking, ‘Oh that’s the direction he’s goin’ now,’ ” Kelly said on the Morning Riot on Thursday. “Nah, that was a moment in time, just like ‘Ignition’ and ‘Bump n’ Grind’ and all this stuff was a moment in time. Now this Black Panties album … it’s the new 12 Play”
According to MTV News, At his peak, Kelly was untouchable when it came to male R&B singers. But after his infamous 2008 child pornography case (in which he was found not guilty) and a few less-than-stellar albums, he wasn’t as flawless as he had been in the 1990s and early 2000s. New artists like Chris Brown and Trey Songz emerged as R&B’s leading men. Despite working together on Trey’s second album (R. Kelly produced “Grub On” on Trey’s 2007 Trey Day), the “Say Ahh” singer has been throwing shots at the R on songs and in interviews, criticizing Kelly for hopping on current trends like using Auto-Tune instead of standing as an innovator.
Kellz responds:
“I was pretty numb. I don’t feel those type of things. It’s like I’m bulletproof when it comes to beef. I don’t deal with beef, I love steak,” he said about Trey’s shots, before paying his rival a compliment, sort of. “I know Trey Songz is a guy that if he keeps with the hits and he humbles himself a little bit more, he will definitely be one of the runners up.”
At press time, Kellz hints that the first single from the new album will be entitled ‘10 minutes.’ Black Panties will be looking for a early 2012 release.

Damn, Kellz is working on another album, he doesn’t quit. Got to respect his 3 decades in music and if you’re an R. Kelly, I’m quite sure the new album will be in high anticipation.
Ortiz Suffers Vicious Loss to the Hands of Mayweather
Las Vegas, NV – Every time Floyd Mayweather is billed for a fight, that match becomes highly anticipated and boxing fans await the match where the undefeated Mayweather goes two to two with his opponent. This past Saturday (September 17), Mayweather was put up against Victor Ortiz for a 12 round match for his WBC Welterweight Championship Belt.
The MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada hosted the main event match, which fans and spectators predicted would be Mayweather’s 26th consecutive knockout leaving Ortiz as the underdog. As the match commenced, Ortiz came at Mayweather, prepared and ready for a fight. The two athletes went toe to toe on the first three rounds and at one point in time Ortiz even had Mayweather on the ropes and was throwing some powerful punches with very few landing. Everything seemed fine until Ortiz ducked down and pushed up with an intentional head-butt to Mayweather’s chin. The referee Joe Cortez immediately got in between the two calling a time out leaving Mayweather stunned and quite upset.
During the time-out, Ortiz apologized to Mayweather before the commencement of the fourth round. As both fighters came back to the center of the ring, Cortez called the round begin. After touching gloves, Ortiz came at Mayweather a second time trying to apologize keeping both his arms down. Mayweather saw the open opportunity and with Ortiz’s guard down threw a right hook and straight punch to his face knocking Ortiz down for the count. Mayweather remains undefeated.
After the match officially ended with a KO at 2:59 in the fourth round, the entire crowd began booing at Mayweather, hinting a cheap shot. As of now, the knockout and the win still remain controversial.
Interestingly enough, when Larry Merchant came to interview Mayweather as the winner, the two had a verbal altercation on live TV as Merchant inquired about the blatant cheap shot. The question obviously angered Mayweather as he tried to avoid it as much as he could.
At press time, regardless of what people are saying, in boxing rules, it was considered a legal punch within the official time and commercement, making Mayweather officially the winner. He even offered Ortiz a rematch.
Cheap shot or not, Mayweather still won and is still undefeated. As of now, we await the match of the century, Mayweather vs. Pacquiao. Floyd needs to step to plate and take the challenge, after the rematch with Ortiz. They can bill it for Christmas 2012.
