Swizz Beatz Discusses ‘Down Bottom’ Record; Denies Casio Lawsuit

New York, NY – Swizz Beatz has been throwing plenty of hits at us for quite some time now. Many of those hits, since the beginning, have even gone on to become classics in their own rite. During his tenure and uprising at the esteemed Ruff Ryders camp, many of those classics spawned from that catalog respectively.

One of those classics that is still a hit until this day came off of the first installment of what the Ruff Ryders called the Compilation. This track featured then the hot and chart climbing Juvenile and a up and comer out of Ruff Ryders called Drag-On. To tell you the truth, it wasn’t the necessarily the guest features that made the song, it actually the infectious venomous beat and catchy hook line that caught everyone’s attention.

Swizz recently spoke to Complex.com about the song and the denies Casio Lawsuit rumor. These were his comments:

“We wanted to embrace the South at that time. I was always into collaborating, that’s why on ‘World War III’ I had Scarface and Snoop. We had divisions of bikers in other cities and we needed to do stuff so all of the divisions could represent and show Ruff Ryders wasn’t just some New York shit. I was making music to fit that.”

“When I made ‘Down Bottom’ I was like, ‘Who can we get on here to switch it up?’ At the time, Juvenile and Cash Money was popping. I was like, ‘Yo, get Juvey on this track. That’ll stamp us over there and it’ll stamp them over here.’ I remember being in Sony studios making the beat from the sound module and it was like, ‘This shit is crazy! Let me flip it.’ The rest is history.”

“The sound module comes with sounds programmed in it already, so I was just looping the sound modules. Then, of course, people spun it out of control like I got sued by Casio. I was like, ‘What the fuck?’ I’ve never used a Casio in my life. That was a myth. I was using the Trinities, these silver keyboards. The Triton hadn’t come out yet.”

“Today—because of that story—people think I made all of that shit from a fucking Casio. I’m like, ‘How can you make those beats from a Casio?’ No disrespect, but the only Casio I’d ever seen was little. I’ve never seen a Casio that had those types of horns or that could make the type of shit I was making.”

“My equipment list started from two BD10 Gemini turntables with a wood-grain Gemini mixer—the small one. Then I graduated to the Technic 1200’s and I got the other Gemini mixers. I always liked the Gemini mixers.”

So far, the Ruff Ryders has released 4 volumes up until 2005, the last one being ‘The Redemption.’

When that song was first released, I was in high school. ‘Down Bottom’ became the anthem of Volume 1 and still is.

Mars of 1500 or Nothin’ States Game Already Commenced on Next Album

New York, NY – This past weekend, Game announced that he was already working on the follow-up to The R.E.D. Album, due in stores tomorrow (August 23rd), with 1500 or Nothin’ producer Mars. According to the producer, the Compton, California native is taking a different approach with his fifth and final album for Interscope Records, explaining that the LP will be devoid of guest features and name-dropping in Game’s rhymes.

Mars recently spoke with MTV News about the next album on their mixtape daily. These were his comments:

“Me and Game was in the studio yesterday. We did two songs. That’s coming along crazy. We’re going to have no features: It’s just him rapping. No name dropping, no little things people say is cliché about Game. It’s just putting on the boxing gloves and going for what we know.”

Mars, known for his previous production work with T.I. and Nelly, also serves as executive producer on R.E.D., an honor that he didn’t see coming. He says that he was given the title because of “[Game] seeing that it wasn’t about trying to get however many songs or just going up there and sending beats and just leave like other producers would. I just wanted to be there every day to make sure there’s input,” he continued. “Even if it was songs I didn’t produce, I made sure I was vocal about it. He respected different things I would suggest.”

At press time, Game’s recent album ‘The R.E.D. Album’ has been set to drop on August 23.
