The 2011 MTV Movie Awards Recap
Los Angeles, CA – The Gibson Amphitheatre in Los Angeles held the prestigious 20th Annual MTV Movie Awards for the year 2011. The star studded event was hosted by actor/comedian Jason Sudeikis as the frontrunner of the show. And like every movie awards show from MTV they open with a movie spoof, this year they opened with a spoof of ‘Hangover 2.’ As it commenced, Sudeikis went in on his comedy picking at different actors and actresses in their respective movies of this year and last, some found it to be funny, while others, well wasn’t too fond of the whole charade. Either the way, the audience itself was filled with a mixture of teeny bopper celebrities and veteran actors, more teeny boppers than anything. The camera had an interesting time panning between Team Twilight and Team Harry Potter. I, myself, found it quite difficult to switch back and forth between the Heat and Mavericks Championship Finals game and the Movie Awards, but nevertheless, this article still found its way onto the On Clock Report. Thank you to the people on twitter that I follow for some of the highlights, much appreciation for that.
Robert Pattinson is a clown. Besides winning three awards, MTV had him say a couple of words for Reese Witherspoon alongside Patrick Dempsey and Chelsea Handler during the presentation of being the recipient of this year’s MTV Generation Award. Not sure if MTV was paying attention or not, but during Pattinson’s speech or built up punchline, he let something slip. When Witherspoon finally came on stage to accept the award, she actually finished the line for Pattinson and honestly she made it sound better. All in all, Reese Witherspoon has come a long way in her illustrious career and it was a great idea on MTV’s part to choose her as this year’s recipient.
Besides all of the quite interesting comedic acts that involved Sudeikis and the obvious MTV antics that we have all become used to, the actors and actresses did a great job with following along and presenting the awards. There were even amazing performances from the Foo Fighters as they performed ‘Walk’ and the talented Lupe Fiasco and Trey Songz as they performed ‘Out of My Head.’ After that, Lupe went into performing his solo hit single ‘The Show Goes On.’
And of course MTV had to provide the world exclusive premieres for both the new Twilight and Harry Potter films.
