Young Jeezy to Debut ‘My President’ on MTV
New York, NY – In light of the presidential inauguration, what better than for Jeezy to release his acclaimed track that predicted the winning of Obama. Jeezy and Nas recently recorded the video for ‘My President’ and will debut it on MTV in the midst of Obama’s grand occasion.
With a list of artists making cameo appearances in the video, Jeezy describes the video to be in the same concept of Public Enemy’s ‘Fight the Power’ video that was a big hit some time ago. The six minute video portrays a community holding up an array of picket signs with names of countries from all over the globe as well as the names of prominent figures of our time, including artists like Tupac Shakur, Notorious B.I.G., Pimp C, and Bernie Mac. Throughout the video you will also notice a numinous amounts of Obama posters as the video is about him. Artist cameos in the video include: Bow Wow, Bun B, Greg Street and CTE’s new artist Roccett.
This is what Jeezy told MTV a month before about the idea that was put into ‘My President’ by him and director Gabriel Hart.
“I did [the video] with the ‘Fight the Power’ concept because I remember, back in the day, Flavor Flav and Chuck D marching down the street. They had the old people, the young people, store owners, they had picket signs, everything. It was a sense of black pride, a sense of pride, period.”
At press time, Jeezy will be joining Russell Simmons, T.I., and LL Cool J at the ‘Hip-Hop Inaugural Ball’ this Monday while the ‘My President’ video will be airing throughout the day on MTV Jams.
What a great time to unveil the video that had everyone is an uproar even before the elections in November. Jeezy’s political track has been an influence for many people to believe in change, to believe in their vote. The concept for the video is an ingenious idea in part by following the legacy that Spike Lee and Public Enemy bought to the screen sometime ago. The picket signs of the countries and the names of numinous amounts of people add a certain flare to the idea that our nation, our world is united with the same cause, belief and righteousness.
