Police are investigating a shootout in which officers returned fire and one person died following a Pleasure P concert in Wichita, Kansas.
The Wichita Eagle reports that a fight broke out around 2:00 AM after the Pretty Ricky member’s concert at Doc Howard’s Lounge. Someone then started firing a gun.
According to Wichita police Lt. Scott Heimerman, officers chased a man armed with a gun into the parking garage, where they exchanged gunfire.
Police Lt. Randy Reynolds confirmed one casualty, but did not elaborate on any details.
Doc Howard’s owner Bryan Shapiro spoke on the matter, expressing his surprise that the shooting was linked to his club. “It happened in the middle of the street in the most neutral part of Old Town. They just happened to run in our direction.”
“We’re an easy target [for blame],” said Shapiro, who pointed out that several other clubs in Old Town were closing at about the same time.
“We’re the biggest boy on the block, and the biggest boy sometimes takes most of the blame.”
