There have been a few murmurings and rumors around about whether or not Pusha T, one-half of hip-hop duo the Clipse, has in fact signed with Kanye West. And if folks weren’t caught up in trying to figure out all the nuances in West’s tongue-in-cheek, seemingly self-deprecating Video Music Awards performance, hip-hop blogs might have gone haywire when Pusha T came out and dropped a verse on the debut of West’s single at Sunday night’s show.
After his performance, Pusha T did confirm to MTV News in the RapFix post-show that he has officially signed with West’s label, G.O.O.D. Music.
“I’m definitely signed with G.O.O.D. Music. I’m definitely doing my solo project through G.O.O.D. Music,” the Virginia MC confirmed to MTV News’ Sway. “The Clipse is definitely coming with a new Clipse project. We’re definitely coming with the Re-Up Game project. The family is still here, man. It’s just all about G.O.O.D. Music, straight up.”
The confirmation puts an end to a bit of flirty back-and-forth the MC has had with the media with regard to whether or not he was officially linked up with West. Several weeks ago, he danced around the subject, saying, “I mean, you know, I been to Hawaii. Hawaii is a nice place. ‘Good music’ is made down there, ya know? So, yeah, I was there. I can’t say too much about that. I think everybody’s gonna be in for a big surprise. A very big surprise.”
On Friday, West dropped the latest offering from his G.O.O.D. Friday movement, also called “G.O.O.D Friday.” The song features Big Sean, Kid Cudi, Common, Charlie Wilson and … Pusha T. (Via MTV)
