An attorney for R&B crooner R. Kelly has revealed that the
Chicago bred singer is currently hospitalized in Miami with appendicitis.

According to Terence Gillespie, Kelly’s attorney, who spoke to The Chicago
Sun-Times, the Grammy award singer had traveled to Miami over the weekend to
attend the Super Bowl but had to be rushed to hospital on the day of the big
game. "He was admitted on the 4th of February, and he was operated on shortly
after admission," Gillespie told the Sun-Times. "He’s recuperating
fine."

Kelly will miss a scheduled status hearing relating to his child-pornography
case today (February 7). According to assistant Cook County State’s attorney
Shauna Boliker, the hearing would proceed as planned without the singer. Kelly
is currently awaiting trial on child-pornography charges for allegedly making
a sex video with a 14-year-old girl. He has pleaded not guilty to the charges.
