After spending 4 years signed to Lil’ Wayne’s Young Money label, rapper Curren$y has officially said he is no longer part of the label.

In a recent MySpaceblog
titled “Sorry Y’all I Tried…Honest,” Curren$y states “I officially declare my independence on this 16th day of December
2007…I AM NOT YOUNG MONEY…regardless of what u may hear in da
streets, read on the web or hear on the radio I AM NOT YOUNG MONEY…If
that loses me friends r fans thats just something i will live with but
i will get my just due in this rap game b4 its all said and
done…Dont look 4 any beef records from me cuzz that aint my thing,
just look 4 me at the top…str8 up…fly 1 outSo as Lil’ Wayne the artist reaches an all time high, his label
is losing one of its most promising artists.”

In a recent interview, Curren$y said “Nothing happened and that’s why I had to bounce. I been there for what? Four years, man, and nothing ever came of it. It’s just like my No Limit deal that was with Master P, four years, I feel like, by now, where is the album? I
don’t believe it. Nobody believes that anymore. ‘The album dropping —
the album dropping,’ I got tired of telling people that. I got a
shitload of music and I can actually rap and the only thing anybody
ever heard from me was “Where Da Cash At?” That was a cool song but
what was after that? Wasn’t nothing happening, I can’t sit still. I
gotta go and do what I gotta do.”

Curren$y also said that he and Lil’ Wayne haven’t spoken in months. He says “We wasn’t even talking — we haven’t even been talking.” He also says he doesn’t have any hard feelings towards his former boss. “It ain’t no problem, it ain’t like I got some big thing against
dude, I just have something with me not being done right. I’m not on no other shit. We from the same city, so it ain’t nothing
like that. I would like to see a nigga get it, but I would like for niggas to see me get it as well… I got a cult following — hardcore
fans that know what I can do. They want to see me in a different
position, they want me on TV and I want it for them.”
