Remy Ma, who was arrested back in July 2007 and received an eight-year sentence as of May 2008, has finally spoken out about what life has been like being behind bars. She has so far spent over a year or so in prison and Global Grind recently spoke about a letter she had written which speaks about her limitations and how the penal system has taken an effect on her well being.

According to TMZ, Remy turned herself in to the New York Police in July 2007, for involvement in a shooting outside of a nightclub.

“The former Terror Squad member turned herself in to New York police in July 2007 for the shooting of Joseph outside a nightclub. Remy was later sentenced to an eight year bid last May and is currently beind held at the Bedford Hills Correctional Facility for Women in Bedford Hills.”

Remy follows suit, as female rappers before her including Foxy Brown, who has written blogs about her prison time, and Lil Kim, who plans to release a tell-all book entitled “The Price of Loyalty” which also focuses on her time in prison.

According to Global Grind Remy Ma penned:

“I rarely listen to the radio because it’s sort of depressing,” Remy wrote in a letter. “Not being able to record is stressful not because I’m a rapper but because that was my way of venting and expressing myself. So I write a lot! So much that now I have a callous on my finger from holding a pen…Not being able to go somewhere when you want, see your family when you want (on many occasions when you need to), can’t use the phone, take a shower, wear clothes, or even eat when you want – super aggravating. Whenever, which is almost everyday I get visits, a lot of kids ask for autographs. It’s something that I used to do almost everyday but now it actually feels weird, I really feel like an inmate…Everyone in prison isn’t innocent but everyone in prison isn’t guilty. So whether you end up here on purpose or by accident, the pain you’re feeling is still the same. And I can quote a lot ‘gangsters’ by saying that ‘I wouldn’t wish this on my worst enemy.'”

Eight years, that’s some hard time. Good Luck to you Remy!

Sticky Fingaz Gets Trigger Happy

Well his name may be Sticky Fingaz, but his trigger finger is anything but that! Sticky Fingaz has recently confirmed the early reports that he shot rapper Luce Cannon in the leg last week. According to TMZ:

“When Sticky was showing off his baby Desert Eagle to Luce — the gun accidentally went off and shot Luce in the leg. The bullet shattered the bone in Luce’s shin and he had to have surgery. He’s doing fine now, but the bullet is still lodged in his leg and he’s going back this week for a second opinion. No charges were filed — the two are still friends and Luce calls the whole thing “a freak accident.” “Sh*t happens,” Sticky said in an on-street interview. “Accidents happen. It’s as simple as that, it was an accident and sh*t happens. He’s good, he’s good. He’s alive.”

I find it quite comical that a rapper named Luce Cannon is the one who got shot! Sticky should know better than that. He was previously arrested back in 2005 on gun charges in New York City and according to Fox News:

“Jones was arrested on a charge that he left an unlicensed handgun in a Manhattan hotel  room, police said. He surrendered to police and was awaiting arraignment on one count of criminal weapon possession. Police said Jones had been staying at the Flatotel, a luxury hotel a few blocks from Times Square, and left a 9mm pistol behind when he checked out. Hotel staff discovered the weapon and called police. Jones, 35, and originally from Queens, was not licensed to carry the weapon, said police detective Kevin Czartoryski.

Well luckily Luce is a friend of Sticky’s and didn’t take it personal. I’m not sure if I could’ve done the same but hey, I guess that’s a testament of true friendship! I’m glad everything is alright but let’s just keep the showing off to a minimum please, especially if it’s a unregistered weapon!
