There is something about instant gratification that we love. We rather use streaming services to hear the songs that we want to hear, when we want to hear it. We often forget where it all started—radio! So while everyone else was focused on the latest music app, a certain someone creeped in and dominated the charts. Looks like congratulations are in order for Rich Homie Quan. This week he managed to bump Rihanna’s “Bitch Better Have My Money” out of the number one spot to become the first independent artist since 2006 to top the urban radio charts with his smash hit “Flex (Oooh, Ooh, Ooh)”. The last time this was done had to be when Dj Unk hit the airwaves with “Walk It Out”.

Yes guys, everything you see you can’t believe, Rich Homie is still and independent artist contrary to popular belief. He has done some work with Birdman and Rich Gang, however, he never allegedly signed a contract.

I mean you have to give credit where credit is due! There are artist out there with major labels behind them that still can’t accomplish what this 24-year-old Atlanta native has. Whether or not you’re a fan you have to respect the hustle, and even if you don’t lets just remember, numbers don’t lie.
