Rick Ross Goes Deep on Deeper Than Rap
2008 was a great year for Miami’s own Rick Ross. His sophomore album ‘Trilla’ reached Gold status in a very short period of time. From that album spawned three singles that carried a status of its own becoming certified hits in the streets the clubs, and the radio. ‘Trilla’ eventually went on to peaking number 1 on the billboards and a plethora of award nominations. In 2009, Ross has returned with his third album, this time going ‘Deeper than Rap.’ We’ve been hearing about this album for some time now, anticipating any new material from Ross is always a plus. Recently, The Boss spoke with MTV News via phone discussing the latest album and what he plans on incorporating into it.
These were his comments to MTV during a phone interview from Atlanta this past Wednesday (January 14):
In reference to the track ‘I’m Magnificent.’
“That’s what makes the record real special. It just takes everybody a little deeper into my world. Everybody can just musically hear the growth. The content is something that’s most definitely something real special. The track was produced by the J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League. I got John Legend himself on the chorus. It’s something real big and creative. I haven’t heard John on this type of vibe.”
Putting Ross and Legend on the same track sounds like a good combination. However, there is one track in question that might not be all that jovial. Apparently Ross is acknowledging that he has a diss song under wraps talking about certain individuals on a negative note that might make the cut. This was what he told MTV News in reference to the track he eagerly entitled ‘Mafia Music.’
“I can’t lie: I’m dropping the B-side. It’s titled ‘Mafia Music’ and it’s gonna cause a lot of problems. It’s a scathing four-and-half-minute nonstop flow, me being autobiographical about my life and my come-up and my triumph. Of course, I had to address a few things; I had to address a few people. I love it. The thing is, some people are gonna be — um — they’re gonna be fucked up. That’s the best way I can put it.”
Ross concludes the interview stating his current infatuation to recording. He continues to record tracks everyday to his upcoming album saying that he isn’t any rush.
“I’m still doing huge records every day, just putting it together. I ain’t in no rush. As you continue to live, you can never predict how far it’s gonna go, we got a black president now. Most definitely that should affect everyone’s thought process. It’s time to really boss up.”
At press time, Ross is near completing of his next studio LP ‘Deeper than Rap’ and according to Def Jam it should be out sometime in April. This will be the first album under his imprint Maybach Music.
Nas & Kelis Experiencing Baby Boom
New York, NY – Reports are circulating all across media outlets that Hip-Hop Icon, Nas, and his wife of 4 years the ‘Milkshake’ originator, Kelis, are expecting a baby. This will be her first child together with Nas, as he already has first daughter from a previous relationship.
According to Us Magazine, Kelis is in her first trimester but has kept it from the media and even certain friends and family members. However, sources close to her commented to Us Magazine.
These were the comments that were stated to Us:
“It’s all they are talking about. She is carrying hip-hop royalty! They are so excited.”
The Hip-Hop couple keeps knit ties with each other and supports one another exceptionally. Kelis just recently won a court case in Miami sometime last year. It was reported that Nas was by her side the whole time. As a matter of fact, during the release of Nas’ latest LP ‘Untitled,’ Kelis was seen wearing a Jacket branding the racial slur at last year’s Grammy Awards.
At press time, representatives from both camps have yet to come forth to comment on the alleged pregnancy, but when they do, we’ll be sure to keep you posted.
Video Interview with DMX at the Arizona Correctional Facilities
Phoenix, AZ – The law finally caught up with the Darkman X as he finally came forward and faced the music. In December, the ex-Ruff Ryder pleaded guilty to lesser counts of animal cruelty, theft, and drug possession.
At present moment, DMX remains in custody until his sentencing on January 30. While in prison, he was recently interviewed by Fox Phoenix about his situation and how he’s going about it. Listen to this eccentric interview, he’s apparently found God and sees something we don’t. Here’s the synopsis, DMX calls Arizona ‘God’s Country’ and from there he says he met the devil in God’s country. He states that his true calling is to be a pastor. The rest so forth is quite unusual. The 20 minute video speaks for itself. Somebody explain to me how a successful platinum rapper ends up like this.
