Nine years ago today, the world lost something that they couldn’t get back. At the young age of 22, Aaliyah died in a plane crash along with eight other passengers after filming a music video in the Bahamas. Her death came only after one month of the release of her album “Aaliyah”. The beautiful and talented songstress is gone, but will never be forgotten. Though she was only 22, she had still managed to make a huge impact on the industry, as she appeared on “Star Search” at the age of nine and signed her first record deal at 12. She recorded her first album Age Ain’t Nothing But a Number when she was only 14, and she had two Gold singles and a platinum album before her 16th birthday.  How many other artist can say that?

During her time Aaliyah worked with Timbaland, R. Kelly, DMX, and Missy Elliott to name a few. I consider her an icon, from her style, ton her dancing, and seductive voice. Aaliyah wasn’t one in a million— but one of a kind.

Below I posted a few videos of Aaliyah. We still miss her! Can you imagine what the industry would be like if she were still with us?
