First rappers getting busted, now the sons of rappers are getting in trouble too? JoJo Simmons, son of one of Hip-Hop’s pioneers; Rev. Run of the infamous Run DMC, was recently arrested on marijuana possession on the Upper West Side of Manhattan last Friday May 8, 2009.

Apparently he was also arrested on charges of resisting arrest, attempted reckless end the criminal use of marijuana. According to certain reports Simmons was spotted rolling a blunt in public after he purchased the marijuana. MTV News had this to say on the matter:

“After being spotted by police allegedly purchasing marijuana and then rolling it into a joint, the aspiring rapper attempted to evade arrest by throwing his BMW in reverse, almost backing into a police cruiser. The younger Simmons, who is the leader of a rap crew called Team Blackout, struggled with police attempting to apprehend him. The NYPD spokesperson said Simmons was booked on a felony charge of attempted reckless endangerment (for backing into the police car), two misdemeanor charges of criminal use of drug paraphernalia and resisting arrest and a violation for marijuana possession.”

So JoJo, not only are you going to commit a crime, but you think it’s smart to roll up in public? Your daddy has a lot of money, but obviously not enough to keep you out of jail. Rev Run made an exclusive comment to MTV saying this:

“I didn’t always have this collar around my neck,” Run explained. “I come from a rap, rock and roll background. Jojo is all right. It’s working itself out. We’re pulling together as a family going forward. You live and learn. Run also said his son was released without bail on Saturday.”

Well kids, will be kids, but perhaps in Rev’s next blackberry text message, he can write a philosophical about how to roll a blunt and not get caught!

Snoop Dogg Cleared In $22 Million Dollar Lawsuit

On a more positive note, after a $22 Million lawsuit, Snoop Dogg has been cleared of all the charges pending against him by a fan. Richard Monroe claimed he thought that Snoop was inviting him and a few other fans onstage while he performed “Gin and Juice” and was severely injured by Snoop’s security team because of it. After his injuries, Monroe filed a whopping $22 Million Lawsuit against Snoop.

Why do fans always try to get millions of dollars from celebrities knowing that they rarely ever see the amount of money they are suggesting? Just get your medical expenses paid for and keep it moving! Brian E. Watkins, Monroe’s attorney, released a statement saying:

“We’re very pleased that the jury found that this incident was not something to be taken lightly,”

I agree, no injury caused by someone else should be taken lightly, but how do you mistake someone telling you to get on the stage? I watched the video and saw no indication of someone escorting them onto the stage. Unless they say, “Come onto the stage” you should probably stay in the seat.

Snoops affiliates have been ordered to pay $440,000 for Monroe’s damages, medical bills and other expenses related to the incident. Well this is a lesson learned for all parties. Monroe will still see a nice little sum of money and all will be good. Next time, keep your ass off the stage man!
