The high profile divorce between Russell Simmons and his former wife Kimora Lee Simmons has closed yet another chapter today as child support payments have been laid out. According to documents provided by the court, Russell will pay 20K a month for each of their two children coming to a grand total of 40K a month in child support. The court documents also go on to specify exactly how long Russ will be having to shell out this dough. “Child support in the amount of Twenty Thousand ($20,000) Dollars per month per child continues as to each child until a child is emancipated, reaches the age of nineteen and one half years (July 21, 2019 for Ming Lee; February 16, 2022, for Aoki Lee), dies, marries, becomes self-supporting, is no longer residing with [Kimora Lee], joins the armed forces, is otherwise legally emancipated, or until further order of the Court, whichever occurs first,” the paperwork reads.
The divorce between the two was looking ugly for a moment after Kimora was supposedly not allowing Russ to see his kids and it looks like the court has decided with her on that aspect by severely limiting how much time Russ can spend with his kids. Lee received the upper hand in the case as she will maintain sole physical custody of both daughters while Russell may only be allowed to see them during pre-arranged visits, which will only be once every two months! This will give Kimora the exclusive rights to decide on the children’s health, education, and welfare at any given moment. There was no reason given for why they are barely letting Russell see his own kids in the decision so many are wondering what was going on behind the scenes to lead to such a drastic decision. Do you think 40K in child support is fair even when you don’t get to ever see your children?
