Already, soul singer Sade’s album Soldier of Love has been projected to huge sales. On February 9, 2010, Soldier of Love was released and based off of one-day estimates, it has been predicted that it will sell 425,000 copies within the first week. According to the Hits Daily Double, those numbers are an estimate that could be more or less depending on recent winter blizzards occurring in the north east regions of the country. However, if this is true, Sade could very well top R&B singer Jaheim’s latest release Another Round.

“According to one-day sales reports from those retailers not up to their necks in snow, the album will debut at #1 next week with a total somewhere between 400-425k, with bad weather back east and Valentine’s weekend shopping the two variables. The week’s other top debut looks like Atlantic R&B crooner Jaheim, whose Another Round, the follow-up to 2007’s gold-certified The Makings of a Man, appears set to go over the 100k mark, and could do as well as 110k.”

Sade is definitely making a big comeback in the game and has been welcomed with opened arms by many artists within the Hip-Hop community. Artists such as Raekwon, Busta Rhymes, and Kanye West have spoken their praises about Sade and are excited to have her music back into the game.

Via his blog, Kanye West showed his excitement about the soul singer’s return:

“THIS IS WHY I STILL HAVE A BLOG…,” Kanye wrote December 10. “TO BE A PART OF MOMENTS LIKE THIS… NEW SADE… HOW MUCH BETTER THIS THAN THAN EVERYTHING ELSE?”

Busta even chimed in via his Twitter page to show love for Sade:

“Sade is unbelievably incredible…,” Busta wrote on his Twitter page last week referring to the singer’s talents. “Soldier of Love in-stores Feb.9th…Watch what happens…”

On Wednesday, Sade even took to BET’s 106 and Park to perform for the first time. Major look for her and the thousands of new fans who have been introduced to her wonderful talent. From the looks of things, Sade will have no issues hitting that predicted mark. Good luck to Sade!

“Precious” Star Gabourey Sidibe’s Mother Sings in New York City Subways

Academy Award nominee Gabourey Sidibe is making headlines again. According to PopEater, the breakout star of “Precious,” may be living the life, but her mother Alice Tan Ridley, is still singing in the New York City undergrounds subway stations to make money. Ridley makes her appearance at the 14th Street/Union Square, 34th Street/Sixth Avenue and Times Square/Eighth Avenue subway stations at least three times a week to perform for donations.  Although her daughter is now a celebrity, Ridley is clear about not living off her daughter. 

“My name is not on Gabby’s paycheck,” Ridley told The NY Post. “For a while, I was teaching and doing the singing, burning the candle at both ends to support my family…”

Well, hopefully if Gabby gets that Academy Award, she can send her mother some financial help.

Certified Dentist Speaks on Lil Wayne’s Tooth Issues

We recently reported the delay on Lil Wayne’s prison sentencing due to a tooth surgery that he must undergo. Lil Wayne has been examined by a certified dentist and according to Dr. Sherry Rudd who says that a cracked tooth could indeed lead to several infections. Rudd says that it is very possible that because of the gold and diamond materials in Wayne’s mouth it is difficult to clean and that he most likely has a abscessed tooth.

 “He probably has a bad tooth, a tooth that’s abscessed,” Dr. Rudd explained in an interview.

Rudd finished by saying:

“With having all of [gold and diamond material] in his mouth, it’s going to be really difficult to get clean because of all of the different crevices. I don’t know if they’re bridges or if they are all individual. But if it’s going to be two weeks [from surgery to recovery], then I don’t think he’s going to get them all off, because of the potential damage. Without knowing what’s exactly there, it’s probably decayed and the decay got into the nerve, which causes the nerve to die.”

It has been reported that all Wayne’s diamonds will be removed for safety and he will have to get Veneers before entering the prison. Abscessed teeth and and surgery, just all sounds painful. Luckily all of that is being handled prior to doing his bid!
