First rappers, now producers are getting arrested too? Scott Storch has supposedly been accused of grand theft auto on a vehicle he leased and never returned. According to TMZ, this hot hip hop producer allegedly leased a Bentley that he failed to return after its expiration date. It took the leasing company seven months to finally locate this vehicle. Seven months? Where was he hiding at? I know we’re all wondering where he was hiding that Bentley at. Storch recently plead guilty in a Broward County Court last Friday, April 10, 2009.
Not a good look for Storch’s career especially after his financial collapse in early 2008. He was issued a warrant for his arrest in July of 2008, after he was unable to pay $500,000 in late property taxes and for his failure to report to his child-support hearing. Damn Storch, not the kids. His financial burdens don’t end there.
According to the Associated Press, “He is engrossed in dept that spans from failed property tax payments on his $10.5 million mansion and arrest warrants for several failed appearances in the child-support cases of his two sons. Storch’s poor decisions have hobbled his music career. In the past the maestro commanded $100,000 per beat. Now, the embattled star has not been able to crack the Top 10 of Billboard Hot 100 since 2005 and has retreated into hiding.”
There has been a statement released about this issue on behalf of Scott Storch. His lawyer Bradford M. Cohen had this to say:
“We are disappointed in the decision to take a civil dispute and file it as a criminal charge,” it reads. “There are many facts, that when revealed, will clearly demonstrate that there was no criminal wrong doing on behalf of my client.”
Well whichever took place; I just wish Storch all the best. No other information has been released regarding this case as of yet.
Kanye’s Assault Case Delayed
In the last few months, it looks as if judges have been passing out get out of jail free cards to rappers in hot water; or at least postponing their sentences for a little while. First T.I. was granted extra time home with his family, and now Kanye West has been granted a delay on his assault case which stems from his 2008 arrest after assaulting the paparazzi in LAX airport in
Good luck Kanye!
