I’m excited to be finally writing news about one of the most underrated and overlooked FEMCEES in the game, Shawnna! There have been recent rumors spreading concerning her placement on Ludacris’ label “Disturbin’ Tha Peace.” According to the rumors Shawnna left Luda to join forces with T-Pain’s Nappy Boy Entertainment where a new record deal is now in the works.

A lot of these rumors spawned early in September when certain reports hinted that T-Pain and Shawnna were working on a deal together. The Boom Box reported:

“Auto-tune King T-Pain just leaked a track called ‘Dope,’ from his forthcoming album RevolveR, featuring Chicago rapper Shawnna. The long-overlooked female MC begins her verse by announcing that she is the newest signee to Pain’s Nappy Boy imprint, rhyming “It ain’t no secret that lyrically I’m the reason Nappy Boy had to put me on their team.”

Shawnna was also seen onstage at an Illinois performance with Pain which confirmed the two were in talks about a deal. In an interview, Shawnna spoke on these issues. She also discussed the highly anticipated joint album with Luda entitled “The Battle of the Sexes” and how it is very much still her first priority. Vimeo reports:

“I know y’all been hearing a lot of sh*t about what’s been going on with me and sh*t, right, right,” Shawnna told a crowd of fans. “I know y’all been hearing a lot of T-Pain rumors, ‘Shawnna ain’t f*cking with Luda no more’ and all that sh*t. I just want y’all to know that I’m still f*cking with Luda, that’s my n*gga 100 percent man. We have Battle of the Sexes coming soon and I’m signing a new deal with T-Pain right there…I’m f*cking with two real good n*ggas in the industry so I can’t help but win. But I can’t do sh*t without y’all support, you understand?”

Well that pretty much sums it up. She’s working with both of them and it sounds all good to me. One thing though, I just hope T-Pain doesn’t have Shawnna auto-tuned out. She’s a dope lyricist and I think that will definitely showcase itself. Good luck to you Shawnna!

Taylor Swift Makes Fun of Her Kanye West Moment on SNL

We all knew it would eventually happen. Taylor Swift appeared on Saturday Night Live on November 8, 2009 and of course it was only right for her to strike back at Kanye West who interrupted her acceptance speech on the MTV Music Awards back in September.

Swift opened the show with her original acoustic composition entitled “The Monologue Song (La La La).”

“You might be expecting me to say something bad about Kanye/and how he ran up on the stage and ruined my VMA monologue/But there‘s nothing more to say/everything‘s ok/I have security lining the stage…”

According to AllHipHop:

“The studio audience broke out into laughter and cheers as Swift is flanked by two fake security guards as she finished her song, which also took shots at her former boyfriend Joe Jonas .”

Well I’m glad Swift has a sense of humor because I would’ve been heated by that situation. I’d be so bitter that I’d jump on stage at any performance that had anything to do with Kanye West for the rest of his lively career.
My only issue is that people are making such a huge deal about this situation. I mean didn’t Old Dirty Bastard do this same thing just a few years back? No one said anything to him, but then again, who would?
