Los Angeles, CA – Talk about a tremendous night at this year’s 81st Academy Awards. Celebrities and Hollywood icons were in attendance for the biggest film award show in history. 81 years have passed with 81 amazing award shows giving nominees the prestigious award in movie production, the Oscar.
The night started at the red carpet where celebrities and icons came in their best attire showing off their fashion sense for the most prominent night of the year. This year’s Oscars’ was hosted by Hugh Jackman with an array of special guests presenting the awards for each individual category. Besides a performance by a non-musical Jackman, Beyonce made a grand appearance as she performed alongside Jackman a medley of movie melodies. Tonight, independent film ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ won tremendously well with a plethora of different awards in different categories.
Certainly the most memorable occasion of the night that no one will ever forget was the standing applause for the Best Actor in a Supporting Role. That Oscar was awarded to the late Health Ledger for his amazing performance as the Joker in ‘The Dark Knight.’ Ledger’s mother, father, and sister accepted the award on his behalf, it was a real heartfelt moment for the Ledger family, the Academy, and his screen actor colleagues.
All in all it was a great night with all the trimmings. The showcase was put together very well and quite organized as an Academy Award show is suppose to be. The Best Picture and the Best Director were awarded to ‘Slumdog Millionaire.’ In my opinion, the film is a must see, fantastic cinematography and screenplay. The awards it won is well deserved.
