Apparently money doesn’t change people! It was reported that Soulja Boy was arrested in Atlanta on Wednesday, October 7. According to several reports, Soulja Boy was arrested for obstruction after trespassing on an abandoned home. The Associated Press reports:
“Soulja Boy was charged with obstruction after telling officers that people gathered at an abandoned Georgia house were shooting a music video. Henry County Police Capt. Jason Bolton said Friday that when officers arrived Wednesday night to investigate complaints, almost half of the 40 people assembled fled by foot. Later, a man identified as DeAndre Cortez Way, Soulja Boy’s real name, returned and said the group was shooting a video. Way was charged with obstruction and bonded out of the Henry County jail on Thursday. A telephone call to his publicist was not immediately returned.”
HipHopDX reports:
“After police responded to neighbor complaints, the group scattered, including the star rapper. As police investigated the scene, a handgun, counterfeit money and other contraban was discovered. Soulja Boy returned to the scene and was detained in a Henry County jail. The rapper was reportedly released by morning. Speculation has been made that the group was shooting a video. At present more information has not been made available.”
Some details have not yet been made known however some sources reveal that Soulja Boy ran from the Georgia Police. According to the Atlanta-Journal Constitution:
“Rapper Soulja Boy, whose real name is DeAndre Cortez Way, is shown in this police handout photo released Oct. 9, 2009 by the Henry County Sheriff’s Office. Way was arrested Wednesday, Oct, 7, 2009 in McDonough, Ga. for obstruction of a police officer and released on bond.”
A police official by the name of Jason Bolton also briefly gave account of this incident. According to Pop Eater:
“Police were called to the scene around 9 p.m. following complaints that a group of people were hanging out at the possibly abandoned house. When officers approached the group, everyone scattered. Capt. Jason Bolton summed it up: “He just ran from the police, and then he decided to come back” for his car, a white Range Rover.”
Soulja Boy hunny, you’re rich now. You don’t have to go chill in abandoned homes to have a good time. Why do you even have that much time on your hands? Shouldn’t you be ruining Hip-Hop some more? I digress. Nonetheless, no other information has been released nor has Soulja Boy made an official comment regarding this arrest. We will definitely keep you informed on this issue.
Jay- Z Responds To MTV’s “Hottest MC” List
You would’ve thought that after that mishap with Vibe’s online Greatest Rapper List that no one would dare go there again. I’m sure you all have heard about MTV’s “Hottest MC” List and the hot Emcees who grace this list. Jay-Z being one of them. The Brooklyn rapper took the number one spot on the list and was very appreciate of being considere3d one of the hottest emcees. However, Jay questioned the list as well. Jay had this to say:
“MTV, Thanx for this nod of appreciation,” wrote Hov in a statement. “Although I don’t strive to be ‘hot’ for any particular year, I thank you for the acknowledgment. My whole goal is to be recognized as the best ever. I created the term ‘best rapper alive’ as a sign of respect to my fallen comrades (Biggie and Tupac). I believe I’ve allowed a significant grace period, and I believe I would not be respecting myself if being the absolute best was not my goal, and that’s why I continue to push myself until exhaustion … salute. Sidebar: Kanye moment if I may … Eminem?!?! I think you do the credibility of this list a disservice if you don’t thoroughly explain his omission. As of this second he has the highest selling rap album of the year and a scene stealing verse on the best ‘posse’ cut of the year . (*Hands mic back to Taylor Swift … and nobody was harmed, I apologize in advance.)” MTV elaborated on Eminem’s absense from the list by explaining that after releasing his highly successful comeback album Relapse, he spent the entire summer (June to September) working on Relapse 2, whereas other rappers “generated week-to-week heat with mixtapes, guest appearances, performances and Web activity.”
MTV attempted to clarify this decision by saying that their actions were made prior to the release of “Forever” by Drake which also featured Eminem, Lil Wayne, and Kanye West. I don’t see how that is even relevant. I think the list is pretty accurate add and minus a few names, but I won’t even go there with spilling names, yet! Well I am partially satisfied with the list and it seems like Jay is too.
Keep doing ya thing Jay!
