Things continue to look up for Soulja Boy, as the 17-year-old rapper
generated has 3 million downloads of his hit single “Crank That (Soulja
Boy).”

The achievement, which Soulja Boy attributes to his fans, makes him
the first artist to collect 3 million downloads of a digital track/song
as a teenager. “I can’t thank my fans enough, without them all of this wouldn’t
have been possible. The support they give me is beyond incredible,”
said Soulja Boy. “I have so many Soulja Boy Tell’em projects ready and
I will continue to give them what they need in 2008.”

Soulja Boy’s latest accomplishment comes as the rapper garnered a Grammy nomination for Best Rap Song for “Crank That.” The song spent seven weeks at number one on the Hot 100 chart and has also sold more than 3 million ringtones.

Additionally, the “Crank That” music video has been viewed 28
million times on YouTube, while the single’s instructional dance video
has been viewed 22 million times. To date, Soulja Boy’s debut album, Souljaboytellem.com has sold more than 658,000 copies.

“Soulja Boy has set the bar for what’s possible in terms of breaking
an artist online,” Interscope Geffen A&M Records president of sales
and marketing Steve Berman stated. “He’s been doing it since day one,
before he was signed here, so I’m not surprised he’s setting a record
today. Soulja Boy is out there on the frontier, showing everyone else
what’s possible.”
