305djs: How did you get your position at 99 Jamz & the “Big Lip Morning Show”?

Supa Cindy: Big Lip and I just started at night. I was actually a writer trying to get a job. I had just graduated from Miami-Dade and I wanted to be a camerawoman for the news and nobody would hire me. So Teddy T, who at the time used to be on 99 Jamz with Al B Silk, was like let’s start a magazine, so [we] started a magazine together and the guy who said he was going to back us financially, broke off on the last minute. So I cried and [Teddy T] told me to show what I had written to Silk and see if Silk can use it for a show as skits and stuff. So I showed Silk, and then I started producing a show and interning. Then Silk left to do mornings in Orlando and [99 Jamz] hired Big Lip and put me and Big Lip together. I went into Jerry Rushin, the general manager of 99 Jamz, office because I just got fired from FPL because I was b*llsh*ting and asked him for a job because I needed one. He said that they hired a new guy and I’m going to put you together with the new guy and I didn’t know who the new guy was. They brought Big Lip in and put us in a small room together to get to know each other and the next day we were on the air together. We have been together for 6 years and we have been doing mornings now for 2 years. Whatever slot we have, we’re number 1.

305djs: Are you originally from Miami?

Supa Cindy: I was born in Miami. My parents got divorced and I moved to New York when I was about 10. I grew up in Queens. I was off the chain over there like cutting school and barely graduating high school. Once I graduated me and my mom moved back [to Miami].

305djs: What inspires you to come up with the different topics you discuss in the morning?

Supa Cindy: You know what’s so crazy is that I’m so blessed due to the fact that usually when you go on radio and they put two people together, they don’t really mesh and it’s obvious on the air that everything is forced and digital. Big Lip and I, from the moment we met, just hit it off and we’re like brother and sister. We finish each other’s sentences. When you hear us arguing on the air, we’re really arguing. On our show, we’re not acting we’re us. The topics that we’re talking about are things we’re going through like relationships. Big Lip is a hoochie and I’m trying to find somebody to be with. I’m single and I can’t find anybody. That’s what we base our show on. Just like everyday you walk out on the street and if you and I walk out of this building right now that we would find something to talk about tomorrow just because there are so many different things going on in our lives.

305djs: Is there anything controversial that you ever said on the air that got you in trouble?

Supa Cindy: Well the biggest thing that ever happened was when they were filming “Bad Boys 2”, I reported that Gabrielle Union and Will Smith were at club B.E.D. making out and everything. As soon as we went to commercial, the hotline rang and it was Will Smith cussing me out saying he was going to have my head and all this other sh*t. I didn’t even say his name. When I reported it, I never said his name; I said Gabrielle Union and an actor. He called up and said he wanted to go on the air. But I was like Will, I didn’t even say your name. He was like, I don’t care, I want to go on the air. I’m like fine, let everyone know it was you.

305djs: Is there anyone that has ever called in and said something that got you real mad or angry?

Supa Cindy: You know what the thing is, in my real life, I just said that we don’t act which we don’t. I think the only thing that is not so [real] is that I’m not a gossiper. In my personal life I don’t gossip. I hate people in my business and I hate being in people’s business. But unfortunately that is the job I got. So that is the biggest thing that doesn’t fit in. So when I report things, I try to be as nice as possible and think about if I would want something like that happening to me. But at the same time I have job to do and I have to report things, so a lot of people call pissed off sometimes. But I have good relationships with most people, so if I report things, they’ll call me, like Trina or Trick [Daddy] or Missy [Elliott] and say Cindy, that’s not what happened and they’ll give me the real story. I don’t get mad. There is a certain female rapper in South Florida who hates my guts for what reason I don’t know cause I never reported anything negative about her. It came back to me and Big Lip that she was trashing us and in retaliation, Big Lip started talking badly about her and dissing her. Now she hates my guts and she wants to jump me. Every time that Big Lip talks about her, I never say one word. But yet, Supa Cindy said this. She doesn’t even exist in my world and she keeps popping into it.

305djs: Do you have any other businesses outside of radio?

Supa Cindy: Yes I do. I have a non-profit organization which specializes in mentoring young girls. It’s called “Super Friends.” And every year I have a young girl summit and this year my summit is Memorial Day Weekend, Saturday May 27th. I’m expecting about 1,000 girls. Every year it’s off the chain. I have a lot of rappers, athletes and everybody there to talk to the young girls. So that’s what my main focus is besides radio.

305djs: How do you feel about the whole Miami Movement?

Supa Cindy: I think it’s about time. I’ve been in radio for 6 years and I’ve seen local artists and local labels come and go and I’m just glad that people like Rick Ross, Khaled and Cool N Dre finally get what’s due to them. What’s so crazy about the Miami Movement is you see these people who aren’t even from here, coming here because they know the vibe and they know this is where it is. So they are relocating to come and work out of Miami because everything is here. I love the Miami Movement.

305djs: What else do you see yourself doing in the whole Music Industry/Entertainment Industry?

Supa Cindy: I’m kind of fed up with the music industry. I really want to move to invest some time into my non-profit because I love helping young girls and just kids in general, teens just cause they are in such need. I also want to get into television. The only problem with television and me is that I like to eat and I hate working out. Maybe television, I want to get on like Deco Drive or something entertainment wise. I like having fun.

305djs: Is there anything else you want to promote?

Supa Cindy: My website. I have a worldwide website. It’s supacindyonline.com and it’s hot. Log on.
