When T.I. worked
out the plea deal in his weapons case part of the agreement was that he would
commit to 1500 hours of community service. Most of the community service would
be served out through him speaking at several schools to kids about the effects
of gun violence.

Several school
districts however have said that they don’t want the rapper to speak at their
school citing it as a ‘bad time’ to do it. Pebble Brook High said the
exact reason for not allowing him to come was that there had been recent gang
tension after the death of a student.  Fulton County school officials said
they don’t want him to come because he has a gun conviction. Cobb County
officials have not given any reason, they just simply banned him from appearing
in any of their schools. T.I. has already made several appearances at churches
and boys clubs to speak to the children with no incident so it is odd why these
few schools have not allowed him to come in.

I think the fact that he has a gun conviction should not
stand in the way of him talking to kids about the effects of guns as he is
obviously well aware of them. No word on yet on when the ban will be lifted but
T.I. will continue to make his appearances wherever he will be allowed to.
