Hip-hop
heavyweights will have their career-long achievements recognized at
this year’s VH1 Hip Hop Honors show, as Tracy Morgan serves up the
laughs.

Now in its fourth year, the Hip Hop Honors ceremony will be taped at the famed Hammerstein Ballroom in NYC on October 4. This year, with comedianTracy Morgan set to host, Honors will pay homage to such names as A Tribe Called Quest, Whodini, Teddy Riley, Andre Harrell,Snoop Dogg and Missy Elliott. The seminal hip-hop film Wildstyle will also be honored.

Along with performances by some of the honorees, Ciara, Eve, Pharrell Williams, The Game, T.I., Timbaland, Bow Wow, Busta Rhymes, Common, T-Pain, Keyshia Cole, Nick Cannon and comedian Chris Rock, are all set to grace the stage. Additional performances and appearances are scheduled to be announced at a later date.

In
addition to the evening’s festivities, beginning on August 27, viewers
will have an opportunity to vote on who they feel has what it takes to
produce show music,
with a contest entitled “The Score.” The winner will receive a trip to
attend the show taping, a show credit, and the opportunity to be
mentored by Ahmir “?uestlove” Thompson from The Roots during a New York City session where the winning score will be professionally produced.
