T.I., who has
been heavily involved in the community as of late, is now joining the fight to
get kids to register to vote in this year’s presidential election.

As part of The Turn Up the Vote National Hip-Hop Summit,
T.I. along with Russell Simmons and
several others including Flo Rida
and Styles P will be at Temple
University in Philly on April 20th. The rapper will be there mainly to speak to
the youth about their importance of the right to vote and how they should fully
exercise it. “I am pleased to have the opportunity to travel to Philadelphia to
participate in the Hip-Hop Summit,” T.I. said. “We are going to encourage young
people to go out to vote. I personally know the value of having the right to
vote and it taken away from you, but I will add my voice to help inspire others
to take seriously this right and responsibility.”

The event is sponsored by The Hip-Hop Research and Education
Fund as well as The Hip Hop Summit Action Network. Both organizations have
expressed that they are just as happy as Cliff is to have him on board with the
project as seen by this statement “T.I. has supported the Hip-Hop Summit
Action Network from the beginning. We are pleased to salute and recognize his
leadership and commitment to help others. His presence with us in Philadelphia
will greatly enhance our ability to mobilize young voters,” said Valeisha
Butterfield
, Executive Director of the Hip-Hop Summit Action Network.

This is good that more rappers are getting involved and
convincing these kids that they have the power with their vote. As mentioned
above the event will go down this Sunday at Temple University starting at 1pm.
