The first BET Hip-Hop Awards were taped Sunday night in Atlanta last night (November
12) and hometown hero T.I. grabbed several wins.

Since the awards aren’t scheduled to air until Wednesday (November 15), a full
list of winners has yet to be announced. However, it seems that the network
made a good call holding the ceremony in Atlanta since word is already out that
A-town native T.I. picked up three awards. The Grand Hustle rapper won top honors
for Best Hip-Hop Video, Best Hip-Hop CD and MVP of the Year.

Hip-Hop pioneer Grandmaster Flash was also honored during
the ceremony with the "I Am Hip Hop" Icon Award. According to New
York Daily News, the veteran DJ accepted his award by recognizing all the DJ’s
he’s met, adding, "To get an award for my technological ability means a
whole lot more than anything else I’ve accomplished in my life."

Jay-Z, Snoop Dogg, Diddy, The Game, Keyshia Cole, Remy Ma, Jermaine
Dupri, Ludacris, Jeezy, Jazze Pha, B.G., Chamillionaire, Rick Ross, Lupe Fiasco
and Nelly
were among the many hip-hop celebrities present for last
night’s taping. The awards were hosted by funnyman Katt Williams
who was released on bail Friday (November 10) just in time to hold down his
duties as MC. Williams was arrested at the Los Angeles International Airport
on Monday (November 6) when airport security officers discovered a weapon in
his carry-on baggage.

The first-ever BET Hip-Hop Awards will air on on Wednesday, November 15 at
9 pm EST.
