Rapper T.I.’s No Mercy has just reached gold status. Despite the hip hop superstar being incarcerated in Arkansas for a probation violation, T.I.’s latest album became just the latest in a string of commercial successes–though it may not quite be on the scale of his previous efforts.
The album sold around 160,000 copies in its first week, placing it a #4 on Billboard’s Top 200 chart. This was despite little promotion and mixed-to-negative reviews from critics.
The album was released on December 7th, shortly after the rapper had gone back to prison to serve a year-long prison sentence.
