Rapper Tone Loc, who had hits like “Funky Cold Medina” and “Wild Thing,” has reportedly collapsed after performing at a concert in Pensacola Beach, Florida early Friday morning.
According to KNX News Radio, Loc lost consciousness during the concert while performing his greatest hits from the late 80s.
“Rapper Tone Loc, best known for hits in the late 80s including this one and “Funky Cold Medina,” collapsed early this morning and lost consciousness during a concert at Capt’n Fun Beach Club on Pensacola Beach, Florida.”
All the details of this incident are not clear, but Loc may have suffered a possible seizure but according to the medics, they have not yet gotten a clear cause for this incident. Catp’n Fun Beach Club is a venue known for having fairly hot weather. PNJ News says:
“The open-air club on the Portofino Boardwalk is subject to weather conditions, which included temperatures in the low 80s and humidity of about 87 percent, according to weather reports not unusual for this time of year. Based on a visual estimate, the club was filled to about two-thirds of its capacity at the time of the performance.”
Loc was apparently complaining about the heat prior to the incident. According to TMZ:
“Fans and medical personnel sprung into action early this morning when rapper Tone Loc suddenly collapsed and lost consciousness in the middle of a concert in Florida. Moments after complaining about the heat and humidity in Pensacola Beach, the “Wild Thing” singer suddenly went down so hard — he busted open his elbow and bled all over his shirt.”

Soulja Boy Got Guns!
After reportedly being robbed by a group of men last year, Soulja Boy has recently spoken out about the robbery as well as the precautions he has taken since the accident, to insure his safety. Soulja Boy now admits that he has his house fully equipped with weapons for safety. He told Popeater:
“It changed the way I go about handling things now,” he said in an interview. “It just made me change the precautions in my security now, you know what I’m saying? I keep a pistol in every room now. You know, my bodyguards stay strapped now, you know what I’m saying? Before that happened, I ain’t really just think about things like that because I ain’t really, you know, I be beefing with rappers and stuff like that. But I ain’t just really got no beef in the streets like that and now I do. It’s like I’m on another level now, you know what I’m saying? So I take them sorta precautions now. But as far as when I’m in the studio recording, it depends on what type of record I make. On my third album, it’s gonna be real deep, and I will go in more depth about what happened at the house that night.”
For those who don’t know the story behind this, Soulja Boy was robbed by a group of men and two of the alleged robbers in the incident released a video confirming the robbery. Bitten & Bound reported:
“Rapper Soulja Boy is keeping relatively quiet about being robbed at gunpoint by six men who entered his Georgia home. The singer, whose real name is DeAndre Ramone Way, and several of his friends were in the home at the time of the attack. A video turned up on the Internet with two masked men claiming to be the robbers. Not only did they admit to the crime but they also said this isn?t the first time they have encountered Soulja Boy. The criminals said that they ?stalked? him at the release party for his latest album iSouljaBoyTellem and followed him to his home after the party. In the homemade video, the criminals shot down rumors that there were six guns involved and said that they had robbed him with one gun between the two of them.”
While I understand the fear in getting robbed, I’m not sure that guns are the best way to go. Maybe Soulja Boy should tighten up on some better security. Now instead of swag, perhaps he’ll hop up out the bed and put a bullet proof vest on. Good luck to you Soulja Boy!
