Trick Daddy to Release First Single for ‘Next Day Air’ Soundtrack

Miami, FL – Quite possibly one of the most respected veteran artists out of Miami is that of Trick Daddy. His music holds a distinguished legacy since his debut ‘Based on a True Story’ released back in 1997. He literally put Miami back on the map after his predecessor Luke did years earlier. After 3 years of being involuntarily absence from the game, it seems as though the acclaimed Mayor of Miami is back in his stomping grounds with the return of his signature thug flare. Recently, we’ve been hearing leaks of certain tracks that are supposedly on his upcoming anticipated album surfacing all across the net and now news is coming out of the woodwork that Trick will be gracing the soundtrack to a Hollywood film entitled ‘Next Day Air,’ where not only is he being featured as an artist, he also has a starring role as a character named Roman. The song chosen to grace the soundtrack from the mind of T Double D is entitled ‘Count My Money.’ According to MTV News, it will be the debut single to the soundtrack that will be released on May 5.

An enthusiastic Trick Daddy recently spoke to MTV News concerning the track, how it all came about, and his involvement in the film.

These were his comments:

“’Count My Money’ is featuring the Murk Camp, my artists off of Dunk Ryder Records. I was asked to get down with the soundtrack by the movie studio, and I worked with [director] Benny Boom a couple of times in the past, so it was only right that I get down with this project. The track is that same thug fire you’re used to from Trick Daddy, plus, I’m doing films right now. I just finished my first movie myself: ‘Just Another Day’ with Jamie Hector from ‘The Wire’ and Clifton Powell.”

He also included information on his upcoming album ‘Finally Famous: Born a Thug, Die a Thug,’ slated to be released this summer under his own imprint Dunk Ryder Records:

“My album comes out June 30, and it’s going to be independent. It’s all me behind it. Look for a lot of hits, look for records for the streets, look for that Trick Daddy vibe.”
At press time, Raekwon the Chef, and the late Lisa ‘Left Eye’ Lopes will also have included tracks on the soundtrack to ‘Next Day Air’ slated to be released on May 8 by Summit Entertainment. The film is being directed by veteran video director Benny Boom starring Donald Faison, Wood Harris, Lauren London (New, New), Mike Epps, Darius McCrary (Eddie Winslow), and Mos Def.
