Trina Performs at Martinibar
Miami, FL. – It’s been a while since we’ve seen the Diamond Princess in concert in any venue in Miami. Even after the release of her recent album, ‘Still Da Baddest,’ you would assume that somewhere down the line she’d be doing shows more frequently, especially in the city that made her famous.
Last night (December 23), Trina performed in front of a packed Martinibar in South Miami. At around 1am, people were still piling into the club as it began to get thicker and thicker. Before Trina was to hit the stage, her label brethren CO graced the stage to formally introduce her to the patiently awaiting fans. During her set she performed a couple of her old joints before getting into the new album. She completed her set with ‘Single Again’ providing the crowd with a short yet subtle performance. Regardless of the minutes she spent on stage, I’m quite the fans enjoyed the show as their applause said it all.
Weapons found at Plaxico Burress’ Home
Totowa, NJ – Somebody explain to me why a high-paying football player needs to have a collection of weapons at his home. Apparently, New York Giants Wide Receiver, Plaxico Burress, has yet more legal problems to add to the one that he received not too long ago. The suspended NFL player has a collection of weapons seized from his home in Totowa, New Jersey sometime this past weekend.
According to The New York Post, authorities with an executed search warrant seized a 9-mm handgun, a rifle and ammunition for three other guns, a .380, a .45 and a .40. The .40 is the same caliber gun Burress accidentally shot himself in the leg with. Burress’ defense arttorney, Benjamin Brafman told media outlets that he was only aware of a shotgun taken from the property.
At press time, Burress has been suspended from the NFL for the rest of the season and if convicted could face up to 3 years in prison for each count. He is due back in court on March 31.
Jennifer Hudson Returns to the Stage
Chicago, IL – The academy award-winning singer/actor went through a horrific time during this past October. Jennifer Hudson recently lost her mother, brother, and nephew all in the same time frame in Chicago that tragic week. Good news is coming back in the stream that Hudson will be returning to the stage once again with the memory lingering behind her.
According to Variety, Hudson has been reported to appear during this year’s Grammy events. She has been headlined to perform songs of Neil Diamond at February’s MusiCares Person of the Year event. For the past couple of months, Hudson has been in seclusion keeping her distance from the public, but thanked them early on for their love and support. This will be her first public appearance since the murders in October.
At press time, Hudson’s self-titled debut has been nominated for four Grammy awards, one being Best R&B.
Chingy Dropped from DTP and Def Jam
News has been vigorously flooding the net and the industry that the ‘Right Thurr’ originator, Chingy, has been officially dropped from both DTP and Def Jam. Speculation has been circulating for a while that this was bound to happen, but it didn’t become official until early this week.
Apparently, the sales on his last album ‘Hate It or Love It,’ didn’t do as well as they predicted, it initially marked his return to the original label that signed him. However, Chingy does have several ventures in the works aside from his failing rap career. He is currently working on a reality show called ‘Business with the Baileys,’ and two clothing lines for both men and women called Red Marine and Stick Monkey.
