Will.i.am and Jennifer Hudson have joined an all-star lineup of industry artists and professionals serving as mentors for The Hub TV Network's new original reality music series "Majors & Minors," premiering Friday, September 23 (8 p.m. ET).
"Majors & Minors" follows the journey of 12 talented young performers, ages 10-16, as they are mentored by some of the biggest and most successful artists and coaches in the music industry.
The Hub TV Network is a destination for kids and their families and is a joint venture of Discovery Communications and Hasbro, Inc. TruMoo® chocolate milk will also serve as a premiere season-long sponsor of the new series as part of its nationwide product launch and advertising campaign.
The Majors consist of a star-studded team of top musical artists as mentors aka “The Majors”. Also bringing invaluable music experience and star power are Adam Lambert, Brandy, Leona Lewis, Colbie Caillat, Avril Lavigne, Sean Kingston, Jordin Sparks, Claude Kelly, OneRepublic's Ryan Tedder and Mike Posner.
The goal of each mentor is to provide guidance to the gifted young cast as they begin their roads towards individual stardom. No one on the show is ever voted off, but one lucky “future star” will claim the ultimate prize of a recording deal with Boardwalk Records/RCA Records and an opportunity to be featured in a cross-country concert tour.
In the premiere episode, the viewers will be introduced to the 12 cast members as they participate in the nationwide casting call process along with more than 40,000 young hopefuls. The final 12 are selected by the music industry's top professionals. Brandy guest stars in the premiere episode as it reveals the back stories that led each of the kids to this point on their journey to their dreams. Brandy also serves as the series mentor and producer.
The first original track from "Majors & Minors," titled "One World" will be available on iTunes and all digital retailers beginning Tuesday, September 20. "One World", is performed by the "Majors & Minors" cast and is featured in the premiere episode. The track was written by Evan "Kidd" Bogart, Justin Gray, David "DQ" Quinones, Nikola Bedingfield and the "Majors & Minors" Cast.
Joby Harte, the humorous British television-radio personality, will be the host of the show. Harte is well known for his hosting roles on "MTV News" MTV UK, and "Summer XS" on Clear Channel Radio.
Majors & Minors" was developed and is executive-produced by Evan "Kidd" Bogart, the songwriting hit-maker for music stars Rihanna and Beyonce, and top TV producers Timothy Scott Bogart and Gary A. Randall. The show is produced for The Hub by Boardwalk Entertainment Group in partnership with Sony Music's RCA Records and BMI.
