12 year old Willow Smith, daughter of Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith, says she wants to take a break and just be a kid.  Willow became a child star after making her movie debut in I Am Legend at the age of six and at nine had a major hit with Whip My Hair.

Willow was due to star in the Jay Z’s remake of Annie, which Will Smith is producing, but has been possibly replace by Beast of The Southern Wild Oscar nominee Quvenzhane Wallis.  According to an V Magazine interview, “I just wanted to chill, and be at home, and decompress, and just find out what I wanna do and where I stand on this planet, with the little tiny place we have…”

During a speech in Philadelphia, Smith explained why his daughter dropped out of the lead role in a remake of Annie :

Willow was supposed to be doing Annie, we got Jay-Z to do the movie, got the studio to come in and Willow had such a difficult time on tour with Whip My Hair and she said, "You know Daddy, I don't think so," and I said, "Baby, hold up!" I said, "No, no, no, listen, you'll be in New York with all of your friends and Beyoncé will be there. You will be singing and dancing," and she looked at me and said, "Daddy, I have a better idea, how about I just be 12."

In an interview back in 2010 the actress and singer admits: “Famous-ness is awesomeness…but some parts of famous-ness can be hard.  The hardest part wants to hang out with your friends when you have to work and make platinum records.  And your friends come over, and you’re recording, and you’re like, Please let me go with my friends, I don’t wanna stay here! But people are relying on you.”

It is quite understandable why a kid Willows age would want to take a break. Of course every 12 or 13 year old dreams of being famous, but they also want to have a fun filled life of just being a kid. In my opinion the best thing any adult can do for child is to give them a shot at stardom in acting or singing but to also give them an open resource to let them walk away from it without regret.
