An official release date for Wu-Tang Clan’s highly anticipated fifth group album, 8 Diagrams, has been confirmed.
Wu member RZA recently told Billboard that the set will be out on November 13 via SRC Records CEO Steve Rifkind’s newly resurrected Loud Records imprint. Rifkind and Loud launched Wu-Tang’s career in the early 90’s, while also being home to artists like Mobb Deep, Big Pun and Xzibit.
“We’re rekindling flames,” RZA said. “There’s a strong potential this could be a long campaign, so this will keep us on the road together, on TV together, and keep us working together.”
RZA and his Wu-brethren are currently on the Rock The Bells tour which also features Rage Against The Machine, Nas and Public Enemy, among others.
In related news, Rifkind recently announced that Universal Music Group has made an equity investment in his website, Loud.com. The website offers registered users beats from established hip-hop producers for 99 cents each, which they can rap over and compete against other aspiring artists for a record deal with SRC Records.
Wu-Tang’s 8 Diagrams is scheduled to hit stories on November 13.
