Buck, whose real name is David Darnell Brown, was ordered in June to stand trial, and Monday’s date was scheduled as a jury trial date setting, where a start date in early 2006 was expected to be set. Now, of course, there will be no trial.

The 24-year-old rapper has been out on $500,000 bail since his arrest last fall and pleaded not guilty in January.

Buck was accused of stabbing Jimmy James Johnson, who pleaded guilty in September to punching Dr. Dre at the second annual Vibe Awards last November. Johnson was sentenced to one year in jail and three years of probation and was ordered to stay away from Dre for three years.

The melee was caught on tape and investigators are still trying to identify two other individuals seen brandishing knives.

Buck, meanwhile, is due in a New York courtroom January 26 to face weapons-possession charges. That charges stems from an August 8 arrest in which police pulled over a van carrying Buck, Lloyd Banks and nine other members of their entourage for running a red light and found two guns in the vehicle.
