New York, NY – It isn’t too farfetched that longtime friends and artists that have literally dominated the game somehow down the line decides to release a duo collaboration and entitle it ‘Watch the Throne.’ After the release of the debut single, H.A.M., fans literally went H.A.M. on downloading the track or whatever way they could get their hands on it. Kanye West and Jay-Z diabolically went in on that song produced by Lex Luger and provided a grand introduction on what was about to come.
Longtime producer, engineer, and DJ to Jay-Z, Young Guru, recently spoke with VIBE Magazine and went in on the details behind the forthcoming album by the duo:
“Right now, I’m really trying to get Jay and Kanye to hurry up and finish this Watch The Throne album because the world needs to hear it, it just needs little tweaks and things like that. But the core of the album is finished.”
The album itself had already garnered two tentative release dates, will possibly feature production from heavyweights like No I.D., Q-Tip, Pete Rock, and of course, Kanye West.
“Kanye takes what they do and adds on to it and I think that’s his genius. I say this all the time ‘Kanye records are never the same twice, while he’s making them because they always grow.”
Even though the album has yet to be released, ‘Watch the Throne is already in Jay-Z’s rearview, as he is already eyeing his next solo effect.
“Jay’s a consummate thinker, so sometimes he’ll call and be like ‘yo what do you think about this.’ And he said this idea to me that I wish I could tell the world about. Some ideas are so simple and in-your-face, that they’re so incredibly smart. So this next idea— when you hear this title — the world is going to say ‘why didn’t Jay think of that for the first album.’ The title and concept just fits in perfectly. It’s so simple, but yet so elegant at the same time. [Jay] can’t stop, it’s in his blood.”
At press time, ‘Watch the Throne’ has yet to receive an official release date.
