24: Tell me how did you get into the fashion world which lead you to start your own clothing line?

Jessica Alma: “How could you call it a lifestyle, if you don’t live your life in “style” ?That statement surmises my passion for designing an paints a picture of my passion for this art. At the age of fourteen I designed my first ensemble, which many thought was outdated  due to it’s peculiar style and angular patterns. They failed to think that bright colors, tight stone washed bottoms, and 3/4 leggings would become a modern day fashion statement. My skeptics were ultimately proven wrong when Zac Posen designed a line similar to my original creation; that foresight was one of the many attributes that contributed to the start of Filthy Riches Couture™.

24: What made you choose the name “Filthy Riches Couture” and where would you say your inspiration for the line comes from?

Jessica Alma:  Our Inspiration comes from the rise from obscurity to fame, otherwise known as the transition from “Rags to Riches!”  I decided to name our line “Filthy Riches Couture™” because, I felt that this would ultimately be the name that would differentiate us from Urban Wear and High-End Fashion. We are somewhat in between with “Trendy Sophistication,” so I wanted that to be visible through our creations and our brand.

24: It seems as though marketing plays a Huge role when starting a clothing line and its not just based on quality  alone by itself, so tell me how did you manage to do all of the above so far where so many have failed?

Jessica Alma: I have always had a vision of creating a style that reflected how my friends and I felt when I was younger. I took that concept and worked closely with Team Filthy Riches™, to guide them in the right direction. I made it vivid to incorporate the vision with the grass root support we were beginning to foster in the fashion industry.

24: What would you say separates “Filthy Riches Couture” from other clothing lines and will they be more day wear coming soon?

Jessica Alma: Our edginess, to our one of a kind ensembles and exceptional luxury at a fraction of the cost, is what separates Filthy Riches Couture™ from other lines! We believe that detail is what the industry has really been longing for and our collections may very well be our opportunity to sprinkle a little detail around the world.

24: What should the readers be looking forward from “Filthy Riches Couture” the for the fall/winter?

Jessica Alma: I would rather leave the readers with the “Element of Surprise,” why, you ask? As a clothing line, we seek to defy all of the rules of “Traditional Fashion,” our creations should never be predictable. The only hint I could provide the readers with is that our 2009/2010 Fall/Winter Collection “Might offend some of our political connects!”

24: Where can the readers go to purchase “Filthy Riches Couture“?

Jessica Alma: Beginning, October 2009, customers will be able to purchase ensemble created by Filthy Riches Couture™ through our partners MJA Fashion, www.mjafashion.com and  our direct website www.filthyrichescouture.com is set to release January, 2010.

24: What advice would you give to someone who wants to start a clothing line but is not sure how to go about doing it?

Jessica Alma: Research! Also remember, “When everyone has doubted you, believe in your self“. Reaching your goals takes time! By virtue of my imagination, I am able to create works of value, particularly fashion; the form of art I find most endearing. Allow your dreams to be the foundation of which you build on as you mature in the industry.

24: Is there a clothing line out there now that you would say you want your company to have the same type of impact or stamp approval, that happen people see the name they know what they are buying and that’s quality?

Jessica Alma: No, “We live to break the rules“!

24: When it’s all said and done what do you want the people to say you brought to the fashion world?

Jessica Alma: Change, the willingness to be bold and daring! My clothes were once described as “Irrelevant and Unwearable,” and that has now changed to “Brilliant and incredibly influential“! I’m here, and I will unquestionably be among the most important fashion designers!

24: Any Final words for the readers?

Jessica Alma: Remember, our website www.filthyrichescouture.com is set to release January, 2010. Stay tuned!
